Mondo Digital Updated on 2024-01-28

With the passage of time, it has entered December, and the temperature in the magic capital is gradually getting cooler. In early winter, the afterglow of the sunset is warm but short-lived. The ensuing night soon envelops the city. I strolled the streets of Shanghai with the Fujifilm GFX100 II, just for the beautiful scenery of the magic city in early winter.

GFX100 II with Lujiazui landmark

I have photographed many of Shanghai's landmarks, including the Bund and Jing'an Temple, which are full of history, and Lujiazui, which symbolizes modernity and fashion, and I hope to use the Fujifilm GFX100 II to record as many beautiful scenery of Shanghai as possible. This time, I mainly used GF23 F4 and GF35-70mmF45-5.6WR, GF45-100 F4 and GF100-200 F56. These four lenses cover from wide angle to medium telephoto, which is the most commonly used focal length for urban landscape photography, which is very easy to use and practical.

At dusk, the afterglow of the setting sun gilds the Bund in a layer of gold. It is even more worth seeing the historical buildings that line here with a golden glow. Thanks to the fuselage that comes with 80 stop stabilization, so that I can easily shoot handheld, which is both labor-saving and productive.

Oriental Pearl & Huizhong Hotel

The Oriental Pearl and Huizhong Hotel are not only the landmark buildings of Shanghai, but also the witnesses of history. They allow us to see the development and changes of Shanghai, and also make us cherish the history and culture of the city even more. Whether you're here for sightseeing or looking for historical memories, they're a must-see. The GFX100 II's viewfinder perfectly matches the architecture, and the camera's wide dynamic range captures both the Oriental Pearl Tower in the highlights and the Huizhong Hotel in the shadows, making the images rich and detailed.

Zhong'an Meifeng Building

An architectural treasure intertwined with history and modernityIn the bustling commercial street of Shanghai's Huangpu District, stands a building with profound historical heritage and unique modern style - Zhong'an Meifeng Building. This building is not only a historical heritage of Shanghai, but also an outstanding representative of modern architecture. The sunset moment shimmers with a unique light. The GFX100 II+G mount lens perfectly captures this detail, making the light and shadow effects very natural.

Parts of Jin Mao Tower and World Financial Center

Corresponding to the Zhongan Meifeng Building are the landmark Jin Mao Tower and the World Financial Center in Lujiazui, which not only represent Shanghai's economic development, but also showcase Shanghai's charm as an international metropolis. Jin Mao Tower, the tallest building in China, has won global acclaim for its unique diamond shape and superior construction technology. The contrast between warm and cold is evident in the afterglow of the setting sun, and thanks to the camera's 16-bit color depth, orange also presents different saturations, making the whole building more colorful.

Filmed on the North Bund

When night fell, I headed to the North Bund, and the Fujifilm GFX100 II performed well. Whether it is a 23mm wide angle or a 200mm telephoto, it can achieve high highlights and details, and the shadows are not dead black, which is a good shot of the bright and charming night on both sides of the Huangpu River. When shooting, it is important to keep the tripod steady, which is essential for shooting for long periods of time.

North Bund

Thanks to the use of special lenses, this ultra-wide-angle prime lens can control chromatic aberration in detail very well, and can bring an overall high image quality to my photography from the center to the edges. The nanoG coating used in the lens also effectively eliminates the radial scattered light entering the lens, which solves the ghosting and flare that often occur with wide-angle lenses. Make the picture more pure.

This GF35-70mmF45-5.The 6WR has also helped me a lot in shooting, and it is hard to imagine that such a small and lightweight lens can fully meet the needs of a 100-million-pixel sensor when paired with the GFX100 II, bringing me excellent high image quality with its excellent optical quality.
