The Severodvinsk Northern Machine-Building Plant launched Russia's most modern multipurpose 885M attack nuclear submarine, marking the fifth nuclear submarine of this type to be put into service.

Equipped with Zircon hypersonic missiles, the new nuclear submarines will be equipped with excellent combat capabilities and can perform a variety of missions, including engaging attack nuclear submarines, tracking and destroying strategic missile submarines, disrupting enemy shipping and destroying various ships, and even hunting aircraft carriers.

The lead ship of the attack nuclear submarine began construction at the Shevmash shipyard in Russia in December 1993 and was delivered to the army in June 2014 after years of sea trials.

In addition, the boat is also equipped with "Caliber" cruise missiles, "Jewel" anti-ship missiles and 650 mm multi-purpose torpedo tubes, etc., and in the future, it will also be equipped with "Zircon" hypersonic anti-ship missiles. It is reported that five of Russia's attack nuclear submarines have been launched.

The Russian Ministry of Defense disclosed in 2021 that the Russian Navy successfully tested a "Zircon" hypersonic missile from underwater, verifying its submarine-launched combat capability and demonstrating Russia's strength in the field of hypersonics. This series of test launches and refinements will lay the groundwork for the Zircon missile to be installed on the 885M attack nuclear submarine in the future.

The launch of the new nuclear submarine has greatly encouraged the Russian soldiers involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war, and also brought hope to the people who hope that the war will end as soon as possible.
