Commemorating the 140th anniversary of Shen Yinmo's birth

Ms. Chen Yanyang donated calligraphy and painting exhibitions

It was held at Hainan Middle School in Shanghai.

It is reported that in order to further promote the traditional art of calligraphy and painting to take root in the campus, promote the "six advances" of archival culture. On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Shen Yinmo's birth, the District Archives Bureau selected a number of calligraphy and painting works related to Mr. Shen Yinmo and sent them to the campus in the form of archival reproductions.

It is understood that the works were donated to the District Archives by Ms. Chen Yanyang. In 1988, when the renovation of Shen Yinmo's former residence was completed, Xie Zhiliu, Hu Wensui, Weng Minyun, Du Xuan, Qian Junwei and other famous calligraphers and painters splashed ink to express their admiration and remembrance of this generation of grandmasters.

In 2019, with the active efforts of the staff of the District Archives, Mr. Shen Yinmo's daughter-in-law, Ms. Chen Yanyang, donated a total of 54 valuable calligraphy and painting treasures to the Hongkou District Archives.

At the event site, the relevant persons in charge of the District Archives Bureau (Library) and the District Federation of Literary and Art Circles presented the new book "Shen Yinmo Literature" to the student representatives of Shanghai Hainan Middle School and the relevant persons in charge of the Hongkou District Youth Activity Center.

Subsequently, Hainan students and guests visited the exhibition and the exhibition of "Commemorating the 140th Anniversary of the Birth of Mr. Shen Yinmo - Calligraphy and Seal Carving Art on Campus" that was being exhibited in Hainan Middle School.

Shen Yinmo is a famous contemporary scholar, calligrapher, poet, and one of the pioneers of the "May Fourth" New Culture Movement. In 1946, he moved from Chongqing to Hongkou, Shanghai, where he remained until his death in June 1971. Mr. Shen Yinmo spent his later years in Hongkou. Mr. Shen Yinmo's achievements in culture and calligraphy are important historical and cultural heritage of the region, and he is one of the most influential cultural celebrities in Hongkou.

Shanghai Hainan Middle School is the calligraphy education base of Shen Yinmo, and this cooperation is also an important attempt for the two sides to cooperate and educate people with culture. In addition to Ms. Chen Yanyang's donation of fine calligraphy and painting exhibitions, the District Archives and Hainan Middle School further planned the "Archives Fine Calligraphy and Painting Archives into the School Exhibition - [Looking for Idioms] Interdisciplinary Project Chemistry Xi Evaluation Activity" to explore the innovation of museum-school cooperation and the in-depth development and utilization of archives resources.

To commemorate the 140th anniversary of Shen Yinhui's birth, the exhibition of calligraphy and painting donated by Ms. Chen Yanyang was exhibited at Hainan Middle School in Shanghai from December 8th to December 21st, and moved to the Mobile Art Museum of Shanghai Hongkou District Youth Activity Center on December 22nd to be exhibited to the public, benefiting more students in the district.
