She rejected 20 suitors during her lifetime, including an American man who made a special trip to Mexico to marry her, and her husband was still taxidermy for 153 years after her death.
So are these men who are "obsessed" with her sincere? What is the end of her?
Figure 1 Julia.
Today, let's talk about the legendary life of the ugliest woman in the world, Julia.
In 1850, Julia, who was unemployed and living a life of displacement, met Theodore, an American wandering performer.
She was touched by Theodore's tenderness and began to wander with him.
When Theodore first met Julia, he was not intimidated by her appearance like the others, but took good care of her.
After a period of understanding, Theodore proposed to let her stand on the stage.
In order to let Julia learn more knowledge and talents, he did not hesitate to spend a lot of money to invite language teachers, dance teachers and vocal music teachers to teach her.
Although God did not give Julia a beautiful appearance, she did have a super learning ability Xi.
The clever Julia quickly learned two languages in addition to her native language, English and Spanish.
In particular, she danced and sang well.
Figure 2 Theodore was happy to see Julia so talented, and he quickly created a performance for Julia.
Julia has never been treated with such attention since she was a child, so she is very grateful to Theodore, and whatever he asks her to do, Julia is unconditionally obedient.
And the reason why Julia is so flattered is mainly related to her looks and experience.
Julia was born in 1834 in the mountains of western Mexico, the son of a scholar who studied wildlife in the forest.
Her birth did not surprise her parents, but brought unprecedented fright.
Because Julia is really a bit special.
She has a lot of hair on her body and features that look like gorillas, leading everyone to believe that she is cursed by evil spirits.
The villagers even believe that Julia is the child of her mother and the orangutan.
Because of her terrifying appearance, people avoid her, and her friends don't want to play with her, and they will call her "hairy girl" or "female apeman".
Figure 3 has a variety of mind-blowing statements to describe Julia, and some have even called her "the ugliest woman in the world".
In fact, Julia is only a patient with congenital hereditary hirsutism, but she has to grow up in a strange light, which shows how much damage this has done to her young mind.
Even her mother couldn't accept her looks.
But the child is the flesh that fell from her body, and the mother couldn't stand the child being talked about like this, so she decided to leave her hometown with her daughter.
Two years later, a Mexican herder stumbled upon Julia and her mother in a cave.
The herdsmen took the two to a nearby town, while little Julia was placed in an orphanage.
Despite Julia's unusual appearance, with the exception of her palms and feet, she has a thick and stiff hair, but her gentle personality is popular with the local population.
Gradually, Julia became an adult, but she was still very short, only 138 meters.
Figure 4 Some experts rushed to study her as a living specimen, and they finally concluded that she was an extinct species.
Soon, Julia became a local celebrity because of her appearance.
When the local governor heard about it, he decided to take her back to his home to work as a maid, and Julia felt lucky to be taken in by the governor.
But when she was twenty years old, the governor's family decided to move, so Julia had to leave the governor's house.
She decided to return to the tribe in the mountains of Mexico, where she was born.
On her way home, she meets Theodore, the man who changed her life.
He managed to convince Julia to let her go on stage, and her first performance was in London.
I have to say that Theodore is very good at marketing.
In order to get more people to pay attention to and participate in Julia's performance, he also set up a large billboard on the streets of London.
The billboard reads ten bold letters: "Lady with Beard and Long Hair".
Figure 5 immediately attracted a lot of viewers, and everyone couldn't wait to see the real face of this long-haired lady.
Julia's first performance was undoubtedly a success, setting the stage for the rest to get off to a good start.
The performance scene was crowded, and everyone was driven by curiosity to buy tickets to watch the excitement.
Julia's performance did not disappoint them, only to see her on the stage, with an ugly face, singing witty **, and dancing exaggerated dances.
Imagine the scene at that time, you don't know if you will have the same feeling as me in front of the screen, that is: the picture is too beautiful, I dare not look at it.
And the people who performed at the scene, seeing this scene, spontaneously applauded and laughed.
Of course, this applause was not out of recognition of Julia's performance, but made them feel ridiculous and ridiculous, applauding the farce.
In their eyes, Julia is just a gorilla who can perform, talk and sing, and have no respect.
But Julia became an instant hit with this performance.
Figure 6 Overnight, she received more than 20 marriage proposals from men, mostly businessmen, but all of them were rejected by Julia.
It was then that the gentle Theodore found Julia and proposed to her in the gentlest and purest language.
Julia was so moved that she thought she had found true love and immediately agreed.
In 1859, the two entered the palace of marriage, and Julia married this man who didn't care about her appearance, fantasizing that he could bring her a plain and happy life.
But the strange thing is that Theodore, after marriage, has been avoiding Julia and does not like to be close to her.
She always goes out for the night at night, and during the day, she is forced to perform non-stop.
This made her puzzled, is this still Theodore who is tender to herself?
Julia could never have imagined that Theodore, who saved her from fire and water, was actually the same as those mercenary merchants, and even more so.
Figure 7 Actually, from the first time Theodore met Julia, he heard the sound of coins colliding in his head.
Wandering from south to north, he knows that strange-looking people like Julia are the easiest to satisfy people's curiosity.
Getting her is equivalent to having a cash cow.
Therefore, he has been disguised as gentle and considerate in order to gain Julia's trust.
And he taught Julia to read and write, not to cultivate her ladylike temperament, but to be able to read the notices;
Teaching her to sing and dance is not to cultivate the relationship between husband and wife, but to let her perform on stage.
When he discovers that other businessmen have smelled the huge business opportunities in Julia because of the performance, and propose to her, he has a sense of crisis and is worried that "the cooked duck has flew".
So, immediately confessed to Julia affectionately.
Figure 8 After the two got married, Theodore revealed his true colors and began to force Julia to travel around and overload her performances.
even locked her in the house and only released her when she was performing.
With Julia's hard-working performances, Theodore made a lot of money.
However, as time went on, Julia's hirsutism became more and more severe.
The face has also changed, with her entire face covered in hair and gum growth, causing her lips to thicken and her palate to protrude forward, just like that of an ape-man.
This caused her to have no sense of beauty, only pure ugliness, and people stopped ** her performances.
However, the shrewd Theodore is very good at manipulating people's psyche.
He went to the hospital for a series of tests on the pretext of taking Julia to see a doctor, and paid the doctor to change Julia's test results to half-man, half-ape.
Not only that, Theodore also made a big fuss about the test results, and specially made a poster to claim that Julia was actually an ape-man, not a complete human.
With such a promotion in Figure 9, Julia, who had already lost her popularity, once again aroused people's curiosity, and they came to ** this "ape star".
For a time, Julia became a household name in Mexico, and Theodore also made a lot of money.
Perhaps the clever Julia had already realized that Theodore was just using her as a tool to make money, but she still hoped that Theodore could see her true heart.
Even in order to prove her love for him, she was willing to risk childbirth and bear a child for him.
In 1860, Julia gave birth to a boy in Moscow.
At the time of delivery, due to the fact that Julia's pelvis is very narrow.
As a result, her labor was difficult, and doctors needed to use forceps to deliver the baby, which eventually led to severe lacerations.
After the child was born, it was discovered that he had inherited Julia's hirsutism, and he died just over 30 hours after birth.
Julia also died of postpartum complications.
Figure 10 The love she pursued in her life and the kindness she insisted on became the most dazzling joke in the eyes of others.
And Theodore, who lost his wife and children at this time, did not grieve or collapse because of this.
After their deaths, Theodore managed to preserve the bodies of his wife and children with antiseptic spices.
Their bodies were sold to a professor at Moscow University.
When the cunning Theodore discovers that the corpse can be so well preserved, he realizes that he can still profit from his wife and children.
He managed to recover the bodies of Julia and her son, place them in a transparent glass case, and exhibit them in London.
After that, he continued to take them on a tour of various countries.
What's even more despicable is that he even married another woman with a similar condition to Julia.
Let her sing and dance next to the box containing Julia's corpse and continue to earn money for him.
Figure 11 After Theodore's death, Julia's specimens were repeatedly sold and continue to be exhibited.
Until 1994, the unbearable Norwegian** proposed to bury the mother and son, but it was opposed by scientists.
They insisted that the remains be kept so that they could do their research.
Thankfully, Julia's story has not been forgotten.
In 2005, Mexican artist Laura Anderson Barbat launched a campaign to bring Giulia home, which was officially supported by Mexican officials, causing a huge sensation at the time.
The artists wanted Julia to return to her hometown and settle down, rather than being an exhibit from beginning to end.
After years of hard work, Julia's body finally returned to Mexico after more than 150 years, and was buried in the place where she was born on February 11, 2013.
The ugliest woman in the world "has a beautiful heart and a great insight, but these still do not save her from tragedy."
The peculiarity of the appearance of Figure 12 made her a tool for her relatives to make money, and she was performed on the circus stage as a "monster", and her body was not laid to rest after death, and her body was dragged to the world for exhibition.
may have never enjoyed the true feelings of this world for her, just because of a face, she tasted the coldness of people's hearts.
