Recently, Xingye County held the 2023 Edible Cassava Harvest Festival in the Xingye County Edible Cassava Industry Demonstration Zone in Selling Wine Village, Xingye County, through tasting food, appreciating songs and dances, holding cassava pulling and peeling competitions, etc., so that more people can understand the culture of edible cassava and share the joy of harvest, so as to attract more people to participate in the development of the industry. Experts and scholars from Guangxi scientific research institutes, representatives of leading institutions at all levels and enterprises participated in the event with the local people.
At present, it is the season of ripening and harvesting of cassava, and villagers hold cassava pulling and peeling competitions in the fields. There are also many varieties of edible cassava on display in the form of fresh or gourmet processed products, such as steamed cassava, cassava soup, fried cassava chips, etc., for people to feast on. Among them, the new edible cassava varieties developed by the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences have received extensive attention.
This harvest festival is not only a celebration of agricultural harvest, but also a display of achievements in the edible cassava industry demonstration area of Xingye County. Since the establishment of the industrial park, the whole industrial chain operation of planting, processing and sales has been carried out in the mode of "company, cooperative and farmer", and the sales channels of finished products are online sales, catering hotels, dessert milk tea shops, community supermarket exhibitions, etc., steadily seizing market share, so that the edible cassava industry has been diversified, specialized, large-scale and economical, driving economic development and greatly promoting the upgrading and optimization of local industries.
It is understood that at present, the cassava industrial park in Selling Wine Town has developed an area of 1,000 acres of edible cassava, 235 poverty alleviation households directly participated in planting, and 158 people have been processed and employed. This edible cassava harvesting festival promoted the close connection between local farmers and the industrial park, and also demonstrated the firm determination and pragmatic measures of the local government for the rural revitalization strategy.
