As an important industrial raw material, low-temperature coal asphalt is widely used in road construction, waterproof materials, coatings and other fields. In order to comprehensively evaluate the performance of low-temperature coal asphalt, this standard has formulated specific evaluation indicators from the aspects of physical properties, chemical properties, thermal stability, oxidation stability, storage stability, environmental protection performance and application performance.

The performance evaluation standards of low-temperature coal asphalt mainly include the following three aspects:

1. Elastic recovery rate.

The elastic recovery rate is an important index to measure the elasticity of low-temperature coal asphalt, which mainly reflects its recovery ability after stress. The higher the elastic recovery rate, the better the elasticity of the asphalt and the more adaptable it is to environmental changes. The method of testing the elastic recovery rate usually uses a tensile test, in which the asphalt is made into a certain shape of the pattern, stretched in a constant temperature environment, and then the stress is relieved to observe the proportion of the pattern returning to its original shape.

2. Low tenderness.

Low temperature is an important index to evaluate the toughness and crack resistance of low-temperature coal pitch in low temperature environment. The lower the low temperature, the better the toughness and crack resistance of the asphalt at low temperatures. The method of testing the low temperature temperature is usually to make the asphalt into a certain shape of the model, and the flexure test is carried out in a low temperature environment to observe whether the pattern has cracks or fractures.

3. Elongation at break.

Elongation at break is a measure of the ability of low-temperature coal pitch to continue to elongate after the force exceeds its elastic limit. The greater the elongation at break, the better the toughness of the asphalt, and the more it can withstand large deformations and maintain integrity. The method of testing elongation at break is usually a tensile test to observe the elongation of a pattern after the force exceeds the elastic limit.

According to the above three main indicators to evaluate the performance of low-temperature coal asphalt, according to the test results of different indicators, the performance of low-temperature coal asphalt can be comprehensively evaluated.
