There was a classic battle in the Anti-Japanese War, more than 300 Eighth Route Army were surrounded by more than 3,000 puppet troops, not only retreated, but also chased the enemy for a time.
How did this incredible battle go and how did it happen?
On the night of January 11, 1944, the soldiers of the 6th District of the Eastern Hebei Military Region were sleeping, but Cao Zhifu, the deputy commander of the district, could not sleep, his eyelids jumped, and he always felt that something would happen.
The 6th District Brigade was established in January 1940, formerly known as the Zunhua Guerrilla Brigade, from the Zunhua and Xinglong peasant self-defense forces.
At that time, there were more than 700 people, with 3 brigades and 9 squadrons.
In July 1943, it was reorganized into the 6th District Team.
Don't underestimate this district team, there are two main reasons for its combat effectiveness.
First, the original more than 700 people began to participate in the anti-Japanese struggle in 1937 and had rich combat experience. They are also locals, familiar with the local customs and terrain, and are comfortable fighting battles.
Second, in 1943, the 13th Company of the 9th Regiment joined in and injected fresh blood.
The 13th regiment was reorganized from the second detachment of Bao Sen's department, which also integrated into the 3 detachments under Shan Degui.
Needless to say, this is the anti-Japanese hero who frightened the Japanese army, Shan Degui was originally a fierce general under General Peng, and later defected to the enemy because of the struggle for fame and profit, but the team he originally led was able to fight.
The backbone of the 13th Regiment came from the Song Shilun detachment, and they were also old Red Army soldiers from the Northern Shaanxi period.
Therefore, after the formation of the 6th district team, after a period of running-in, it began to show its might.
District Captain Long Shuiwen is not only able to fight, but also good at doing ideological work, and Cao Zhifu, the deputy district captain who was born in Luannan in 1911, is also a mature commander.
During the Jidong Rebellion in 1937, Cao Zhifu was a fierce general under Li Yunchang, the "Jidong Guan Yunchang".
Beginning in 1941, Cao Zhifu began to take charge of himself, leading a guerrilla squadron to fight against the Japanese army.
By July 1943, his guerrilla force had grown to 9 squadrons, and later more than half of his team was assigned to the 11th Regiment of the main force, and the remaining 4 squadrons were reduced to a company, which was combined with a company of the 13th Regiment of the Eighth Route Army to form the 6th District Team in Eastern Hebei.
Cao Zhifu also became a deputy, but he had no complaints and became a good partner with the district captain Long Shuiwen.
The other cadres of the 6th district team are: Jia Tielin, secretary of the general branch, and Zhao Lanzhou, chief of staff.
The 6th District Team was led by the 13th Regiment, and mainly fought with the Japanese army in the western part of Zunhua County, the eastern part of Jixian County, and the southern part of Xinglong County centered on Ma Lanyu.
Their main goal,:It was an attack on the "mainland gold mine" illegally mined by the Japanese army in Zunhua.
There are 4 gold mines under the "Mainland Gold Mine": Laohushan, Pianshiyu, Horseshoe and Xiejiagou.
Japan has carried out frenzied mining of gold mines, with a daily output of more than 200 taels and an annual output of more than 20,000 taels, which has become an important economy for the Japanese invasion of China.
Therefore, it became a top priority for the Eighth Route Army to defeat it.
The Japanese were very arrogant, and they stationed only one squadron of the Japanese army in the main mine.
Although there are more than 230 armed mine policemen, and there are also armed mine police composed of Chinese in each sub-mine, they are basically furnishings and vulnerable.
In the middle of the night of November 25, 1943, Cao Zhifu led the soldiers of the 6th District of the Eighth Route Army, with the cooperation of the inner miners, it took less than two hours to level the Japanese army's nest in the "mainland gold mine".
In this battle, a total of 28 Japanese soldiers were eliminated, more than 40 puppet mine policemen were killed, 85 puppet soldiers were captured, and a large number of more than 100 rifles, 16 machine guns, 5 small cannons, hundreds of grenadiers and more than 30 boxes of ammunition, plus 6 carriages of gold ingots and silver dollars.
Not only that, but they also captured the general manager of the Japanese side, Umezu, on the spot, and released all the miners and technicians present.
After completing the task, the 6th District team immediately retreated, so angry that the Japanese army screamed, not only offered a reward for the capture of Cao Zhifu, but also threatened to annihilate the 6th District team.
On the evening of January 22, the 6th District team entered the former Daodi Village and camped.
Cao Zhifu was opposed to this, because the enemy threatened to retaliate, and it was too close to the Japanese stronghold, only 30 kilometers.
Moreover, the terrain of Qiandaodi Village is flat, and there is no danger to defend.
However, some people believe that so long has passed, and if the Japanese army retaliated, it would have come a long time ago.
There are also people who believe that there are so many ** teams in the 6th district, and the Japanese army will not be able to take advantage of it.
There are also people who believe that it was the twenty-seventh day of the lunar month, and the Japanese puppet army was also busy with the New Year, so they didn't care about revenge.
In short, many of the personnel of the 6th Sector lacked vigilance and camped under the noses of the enemy.
Of course, just in case, the captain of the Longshui District sent fixed posts at the entrances of each village.
Originally, Cao Zhifu insisted on sending mobile posts, but because the troops were too tired after days of marching, the soldiers were too tired, so they did not send mobile posts, and Cao Zhifu did not insist anymore.
After late at night, Cao Zhifu couldn't sleep, and always felt that something was going to happen.
Sure enough, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, two gunshots rang out outside the village.
It turned out that after the gold mine was attacked, the Japanese army immediately sent plainclothes teams to search for the 6th District Team, and after more than a month of busy work, they finally got accurate information - the 6th District Team was camping in Qiandaodi Village under their noses.
They immediately dispatched more than 400 Japanese troops and more than 2,000 puppet soldiers, a total of more than 3,000 people, and after nightfall, they rushed straight to the village of Qiandaodi.
During the day, Japanese spies disguised themselves as businessmen came to the neighborhood and drew maps.
Therefore, when the enemy approached in the middle of the night, the stationary posts did not detect them at all and did not give warning.
By the time the sentries spotted the enemy at close range and fired warning shots, the Japanese had already surrounded the village.
Hearing the gunshots, Cao Zhifu, who was resting in the west wing, sat up and walked out.
At this time, Long Shuiwen also came out of the east wing.
Both of them were in a heavy mood, as mentioned earlier, this village is not a mountainous area, and there is no commanding height.
Fortunately, the soldiers of the district team have experienced a hundred battles, and they are not bad in their hands, so they are not panicked, and they begin to respond to the enemy calmly. The Japanese puppet army, which came to attack, made two mistakes.
The first mistake was not attacking at the best moment.
Since they attacked by surprise, they did not attack immediately, and did not attack until after dawn.
Maybe it was a temporary decision made by the Japanese commanders, who had an absolute advantage in their forces and had the chance to win, and planned to tease the Eighth Route Army?
The second mistake is that it carries less weight and not much ammunition.
It may be that the Japanese who came to attack had too little information and ignored the fact that the 6th District team had obtained a large amount of ** in the gold mines.
In their impression, the Eighth Route Army was poorly equipped.
It was only after the fight that they understood.
Because of this, the District 6 team actually held out until 10 a.m.
However, at this time, the ** of the 6th district team has not yet fully debuted.
Before the war, Cao Zhifu kept a straight faceA strange order was given: "No one can move machine guns and grenadiers without my orders!."”
For this order, the soldiers were puzzled, and Long Shuiwen was also puzzled, but seeing that Cao Zhifu was very resolute, he did not object.
At this time, Cao Zhifu issued another order for all the soldiers to withdraw to a landlord's compound in the north of the village.
This compound is very large and surrounded by walls, but no matter how big it is, it cannot withstand the heavy encirclement of the enemy.
Everyone still didn't quite understand this order, but Cao Zhifu communicated with Long Shuiwen in advance and won the support of the other party, and the soldiers strictly implemented it.
Seeing the Eighth Route Army retreating into the compound, the enemy was overjoyed and organized men and horses to surround it.
At this time, the guns of the Eighth Route Army's resistance were thinned, and the Japanese army was even more proud, judging that our army did not have many bullets.
At this time, it was already noon, and the Japanese commander saw that the Eighth Route Army had been surrounded in a small courtyard, and he was in a relaxed mood, so he ordered a part of the Japanese puppet army to surround the courtyard, and the rest of the people went to lunch first.
At this time, Cao Zhifu rushed out from the north gate with a machine gun and the soldiers of the 1st Company. At the same time, Long Shuiwen also held a machine gun and led the 2nd Company to kill from the south gate and sweep the enemy at the gate.
The Japanese also had light and heavy machine guns, but before rushing out, Cao Zhifu had already observed them through a telescope and determined their exact location.
Before rushing out, he had the soldiers aim their grenadiers at these places, instantly making the Japanese machine guns silent.
The Japanese army never dreamed that the Eighth Route Army would have grenadiers and so many machine guns.
The Japanese puppet army was in great confusion, and the encirclement was quickly broken through.
After the prominence, the two companies killed Xiaomafang Village in the north of the village together according to the prior agreement.
But after rushing out, there was no 2nd company coming.
Could it be that the 2nd Company was dragged?Cao Zhifu's heart tightened.
When I asked, I found out that Long Shuiwen led the soldiers of the 2nd Company to kill back.
It turned out that after Long Shuiwen led the soldiers of the 2nd Company to kill out, he found the neighing of horses outside the village, and he took a look, good guy,In the woods not far away, there were hundreds of war horses tethered. Long Shuiwen said with a wit: "If you can ride a horse, ride on a horse and beat the enemy." ”
As mentioned earlier, many soldiers of the old 13th Regiment served as cavalry and had superb riding skills.
When they heard this, they immediately ran over, untied the reins, turned over their horses, and vigorously pursued the puppet army moving from the west of the village to the southwest.
At this time, the Japanese puppet army who was eating reacted and concentrated their forces to chase the Eighth Route Army that broke through, but saw our soldiers riding horses to chase and kill the puppet army, and they turned west to pursue the Eighth Route Army.
How could the Eighth Route Army ride a horse, the speed is fast, and the Japanese puppet army and the Eighth Route Army are stuck together, they are also a little blindfolded, and they can't let go of shooting at all.
After the 2nd Company pursued for a while, it also took it when it was good, and withdrew with the 1st Company to the nearby Shuimen Ferry, and quickly crossed the Guohe River and settled down in Guogezhuang.
When the puppet army came here, there was no sufficient number of ferries, and if there were few people, they were worried about the elimination of the Eighth Route Army.
In addition, it was late at this time, and the Japanese army did not dare to cross the river.
In this battle, the Japanese army stole chickens and rice, leaving more than 100 corpses, and more than 20 people in the 6th district team themselves.
In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, it was a miracle that he was surrounded by several times the Japanese pseudo-puppet, and it was even more rare to be able to defend and attack.
Therefore, this battle is listed as a classic and is called a "textbook breakout".
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Cao Zhifu successively served as the 1st Commander of the Tangshan Military Division and the Vice President of the 10th Research Institute of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and died of illness in 1992.
