Wugong Mountain, as a natural defensive barrier, has become a very important support for the Hunan and Jiangxi border guerrillas in the three-year guerrilla war. In September 1937, Xiang Ying also went deep into the mountainous counties of Wugong Mountain to publicize the joint anti-Japanese stand of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. In February 1938, most of the members of the Hunan and Jiangxi border guerrillas were reorganized into the first battalion of the second regiment of the first detachment of the New Fourth Army, and left Wugong Mountain for the anti-Japanese front in Zhejiang.
