The situation in Syria has always been in the hearts of the international community, and the UN Security Council, with the support of the five permanent members of the Security Council, China, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and France, adopted a resolution on cross-border humanitarian relief in Syria proposed by Brazil and Switzerland, and decided to extend the rescue operation that was about to end for half a year to July 10, 2023.
As one of the permanent members of the Security Council, China voted in favor and expressed its views through its Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Zhang Jun. Ambassador Zhang Jun hopes that the decision to extend the relief efforts will prompt the Security Council and relevant UN bodies to summarize the experience and problems of implementing the resolution in the past, so as to better implement the resolution in the future and make more contributions to improving the humanitarian situation of the Syrian people.
At the same time, Ambassador Zhang Jun stressed that Syria's sovereignty and dominance should be fully respected, and that the UN's cross-border rescue is only a temporary arrangement for special circumstances, and that it should eventually gradually transition to cross-line rescue, so that cross-line rescue will become the main way of rescue in Syria.
In addition, Ambassador Zhang Jun called on all countries to actively promote the quality and efficiency of early recovery projects, and urged all countries to lift sanctions on Syria.
At present, there are two main forms of humanitarian assistance provided by the international community to Syria, one is cross-line assistance in Syria, and the other is cross-border assistance provided to northwestern Syria through Turkey. The United Nations** said that while some progress has been made in cross-line relief, cross-border relief is still very important and cannot be replaced.
However, whether it is a cross-line rescue or a cross-border rescue, it is mainly aimed at the Syrian opposition, which involves the issue of Syria's sovereignty and dominance. Some Western countries have used rescue channels to provide support to the opposition in Syria, which makes it difficult to guarantee the fairness of the rescue.
In fact, Syria** has not intervened too much in the humanitarian assistance provided by the United Nations to the opposition, which also reflects Syria's tolerance and cooperation. Then, the United Nations should also respect Syria's dominance and let Syria** be informed about all humanitarian assistance, otherwise Syria's distrust of the opposition and the United Nations will increase, causing an even greater crisis.
After all, the current Syrian opposition has received the support of many Western countries, including the United States, and the Syrian ** army, as the legitimate regime in Syria, has been suffering from sanctions from Western countries.
What's more, some countries that support the Syrian opposition have deployed large numbers of troops in Syria, the most notorious of which is the illegal US military station. According to reports, U.S. troops often smuggle or outright steal Syria's oil in Syria, accounting for 83% of Syria's oil production.
The behavior of the US troops has caused a huge disaster to Syria, not only in terms of conflict, but also in the economic aspect, the oil theft of US troops has seriously weakened Syria's income, Syria has complained that the United States has caused $107.1 billion in losses to Syria, but the United States has not responded to this.
Moreover, from a practical point of view, the conflict between Syria and the opposition is an internal affair of Syria, in which the UN and other countries have no right to interfere and can only provide appropriate humanitarian assistance, and if some countries have other purposes, then the so-called humanitarian assistance is a violation of Syrian sovereignty.
You know, Syria has long expressed dissatisfaction with foreign support for the opposition, and has called on countries to stop supporting the opposition.
If, at this time, there are still countries on the side of the opposition and violating the sovereignty of Syria, then the war in Syria will only become more intense, and the efforts of the United Nations and the rest of the world will be in vain, especially when the situation in Syria is turning around.
You know, Syria's position is very important, it is Russia's only ally in the Middle East, Russia has been fully supporting and assisting Syria, in order to ease the situation, Russia also recently facilitated the talks between the defense ministers of Russia, Turkey and Syria, and received a commitment from Turkey to withdraw its troops from Syria.
Obviously, Turkey's withdrawal will undoubtedly reduce the pressure on Syria, and it also means that Turkish-Syrian relations will improve, which can achieve the goal of easing the situation.
Therefore, at this time, the United Nations and the international community should not continue to insist on cross-border assistance, but respect Syria, gradually shift to cross-border assistance, and urge the lifting of those unjust sanctions, stop those behaviors that harm Syria's interests, and let Syria's affairs be resolved by Syria itself.
After all, as China said, the UN's assistance operations are and should only be temporary, and its real responsibility is to help Syria cope with its special situation, not to oppose it.
