01. Definition of blood pressure.
The lateral pressure of the blood flowing within the blood vessels on the walls of the blood vessels is called blood pressure. What is commonly referred to as blood pressure is arterial blood pressure, which generally refers to aortic blood pressure.
Arterial blood pressure can be expressed as systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and mean arterial pressure.
Blood pressure at rest in healthy adults ranges from 100 to 120 mmHg in systolic and 60 to 80 mmHg in diastolic.
02. Blood pressure monitoring methods.
1.It is recommended to use an upper-arm electronic sphygmomanometer certified by Jing International Standards. Wrist, finger electronic blood pressure monitors, or mercury column blood pressure monitors are not recommended.
2.Quiet and relaxing.
Remove factors that may have an effect (no smoking, coffee or tea, etc., empty bladder for 30 minutes before the measurement) and rest quietly for at least 5 minutes. Take the measurement in a sitting position with your feet flat on the ground, relaxed and your body still, and do not speak.
3.Location specifications.
The midpoint of the upper arm is at the same level as the heart; The lower edge of the cuff should be above the cubital fossa 2At 5cm (about two horizontal fingers), the tightness is appropriate, and it is advisable to insert 1 2 fingers.
4 Measure frequency, time, and days.
Newly diagnosed, early, or menstrually unattained blood pressure targets.
It is recommended to measure blood pressure once a day in the morning and evening before the visit, 2 3 times each time, with an interval of 1 minute, for 5 to 7 consecutive days, and take the average value.
Blood pressure is on target and stable.
It is recommended to measure at least 1 day a week, 1 time in the morning and 1 time in the evening, 2 3 times each time.
Morning and evening blood pressure measurement times.
In the morning – within 1 hour of waking up, before taking antihypertensive drugs and before breakfast, after urination, blood pressure is measured at a relatively fixed time.
In the evening – after dinner, before bedtime, and after urination, blood pressure is measured at a relatively fixed time.
The results of each blood pressure measurement are recorded truthfully and provided to the medical staff as a reference for diagnosis and treatment during follow-up.
03. Diagnostic criteria for hypertension.
In patients who are not taking antihypertensive drugs and have a systolic blood pressure of 140 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure of 90 mmHg on the first visit[1], it is recommended that the diagnosis be confirmed by two retests within 4 weeks, and the above diagnostic cut-off values are met on all three measurements on the same day.
