According to the "customs release", on December 3, when the customs officer of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport under Guangzhou Customs supervised an inbound flight, he found that the X-ray machine image of a passenger's luggage was abnormal, and the image showed that there were a large number of irregular items with dense holes in the suitcase. Customs officers immediately intercepted and further inspected, and found a bag of honeycomb-shaped earthy yellow items in the passenger's suitcase, with part of the soil entrained, weighing 355 kg. The traveler described the items as an ant nest from Africa.
Soil is the main constituent substance of ant nests, which is easy to carry the eggs and larvae of human and animal parasites, plant harmful insects, weeds and other harmful organisms, and there is no effective and feasible harmless treatment method. According to the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Quarantine of Animals and Plants Entering and Leaving the Country, the soil is prohibited from entering the country.
