Produced by Beijing Performing Arts Group and produced by Beijing Children's Art Theater, this play is based on the real battle to defend cultural and national treasures that occurred on the eve of the liberation of Beiping in 1948, and tells the story of patriots making choices and sacrifices to protect historical relics at a critical moment.
As early as the beginning of 2023, the play was auditioned at Baoguo Temple. In this Nanluo version of "Beiping 1948", the creators upgraded the open-air peripheral space and a number of characteristic spaces in the theater, such as Beiping streets and alleys, dark battle rooftops, fog bars, etc., to create a real-life atmosphere of Beiping streets and alleys in 1948. The creators also designed a "script killing", a secret room, and a drag game with the theme of "spy war", and implanted a "catch spies" game that requires the participation of all members of the audience in the plot. Among them, the audience of the "Special Operations Group" can enjoy up to 3 hours of watching the drama and fully experience a "spy war suit".

The "Spy Suit" experience begins from the moment the ticket is collected: after collecting the ticket, the "Special Operations Team" audience will be given an envelope containing the Golden Dollar ticket, special pass and ticket, find the contact person, receive the mission and Morse code data, and then walk into the theater courtyard. There are not only sugar gourds, bun shops and other snacks in the courtyard, but also tobacco and sugar vendors, newsboys, etc., but whether these vendors are comrades in the trenches or bandit spies still need to be judged slowly by the audience in the later tasks.

Dong Ning, deputy general manager of Beijing Performing Arts Group and chairman of Beijing Children's Art, said that "Beiping 1948" is an exploration and excavation of immersive performances based on the creative strength of its state-owned theater troupes, as well as a specific practice of creating a new space for performing arts and cultivating a new consumption model of cultural tourism.
This is not only a performance that needs to be completed by the audience and the actors, but also a show for the audience, where the wisdom and reasoning skills of young people can be fully utilized. Wang Bingran, director of the play and vice president of the Beijing Children's Art Theater, hopes that through this extremely close performance atmosphere, the audience will be able to see the present and look forward to the future from the history of the theater.
The play will be staged continuously at the Nanluo Theater from December 31, 2023 to January 4, 2024.
