Beijing, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- On Dec. 5, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and head of the Communist Party of China, attended the opening ceremony of an international symposium on "Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights" in Beijing.
Wang Yi said that since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Communist Party of China (CPC) and China have always put the promotion and protection of human rights in an important position, persisted in integrating the principle of universality of human rights with China's reality, and made rapid progress and leapfrog development in the cause of Chinese rights, and embarked on a human rights development path that conforms to the trend of the times and suits the national conditions of the country. Especially since the beginning of the new era, the *** comrade with the core has taken respecting and protecting human rights as an important task in governing the country, and has promoted the cause of Chinese human rights to achieve a series of new historical achievements.
First, we should persist in taking development as the foundation, so that the people's right to subsistence and development will be more effectively guaranteed. Historically solve the problem of absolute poverty, achieve the poverty reduction goal of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development 10 years ahead of schedule, and more than 1.4 billion Chinese people as a whole have entered a well-off society in all respects. China will build the world's largest education, social security, and health systems, so that the fruits of development can benefit all people more and more equitably.
Second, we should adhere to the people-centered approach, and the people's right to be masters of the country has been more fully embodied. We will further promote the building of socialist democratic politics, continuously develop whole-process people's democracy, and make democratic forms richer and the channels constantly broader. All the people practice democratic elections, democratic consultations, democratic decision-making, democratic management, and democratic supervision in accordance with the law, and manage state affairs through various channels and forms.
Third, we should uphold the equal sharing of human rights, and the rights of all ethnic groups and groups have been more comprehensively implemented. Forging the sense of community of the Chinese nation, the 56 ethnic groups hugged each other tightly like pomegranate seeds. Showing a vibrant and prosperous scene, the people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang have made concerted efforts to build the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and set up a free pilot zone, and the lives of the people of all ethnic groups have become more and more prosperous. The legal system has been continuously improved, and the rights of women, children, the elderly, and the disabled have been fully protected.
Fourth, we should continue to participate in international human rights governance and make positive contributions to the cause of human rights in the world. China has been deeply involved in the work of the UN Human Rights Council and other multilateral human rights bodies, promoted the conclusion of a series of important international human rights conventions and declarations, and included the building of a community with a shared future for mankind in the resolutions of the Human Rights Council, injecting Chinese ideas into international human rights protection. China has carried out exchanges and cooperation with the United Nations human rights mechanisms and more than 30 countries and regions, and contributed China's strength to the development of the world's human rights cause.
