The word 'xuan' was first seen in the Shang Dynasty oracle bone inscriptions. The word 'xuan' in the oracle bone inscription is composed of '宀, hui', and the word 'hui' was changed to '亘' in the Western Zhou Dynasty. The Spring and Autumn Period, the Warring States Period Chu Silk, the Two Han Dynasty Lishu, and the Eastern Han Dynasty "Shuowen" small seal inherited the Western Zhou Dynasty glyphs. 宀, related to architecture;亘, loop, here is a reference to the shape and sound of the word '亘'. Remarks:In the oracle bone script, the word 'Xuan' is used as the name of the country and the name of the building. In the late Western Zhou Dynasty's Yu Jizi White Plate, it is mentioned in the "Xuan."
It refers to a building where houses are connected, followed by a place for archery. It can also be seen from the foundation layout of the Western Zhou ruins that the foundation layout of the vertical columns is connected like the word "Hui", which is the composition logic of the word "Xuan".

Since the Shang Dynasty, only 'Wang' can have the architectural style of "Xuan", so the word 'Xuan' has the extended meaning of 'arrogant and official'. In later generations, 'Xuan' also referred to the place where the emperor was, and the folk extended it to mean 'expansive, spacious'.
