Huo Quzhi, the name Zhongru, a famous general in the Western Han Dynasty, was born in Pingyang County, Hedong County. He was brilliant since childhood, good at riding and shooting, brave and decisive. In that turbulent era, Huo Quzhi was determined to serve the country in the army and fight for national stability and national dignity.
Fought on the battlefield and made many miraculous achievements
Huo Quzhi's military career is full of legends. The first time he participated in the battle, he went deep into the enemy territory with 800 cavalry, beheaded more than 2,000 Huns, captured the Huns Xiangguo, Danghu and other high-ranking **, and bravely crowned the whole army. Emperor Liu Che of the Han Dynasty named him the champion in recognition of his merits. Since then, Huo Qubing has made many military exploits and has become the mainstay of the Western Han Dynasty against the Xiongnu.
In the second year of Yuanzhan (121 years ago), Huo Qubing was promoted to hussar general, led 10,000 horsemen out of Longxi, crossed Yanzhi Mountain, and marched into the territory of the Xiongnu for more than 1,000 miles. He used flexible and changeable tactics, long-distance raids, roundabouts, division and encirclement, broke the main force of the Huns, killed the king of Zhelan and the king of Luhou, captured the evil prince and Xiangguo, Duwei and other high-level **, and captured the king of Hutu to sacrifice Tianjin. The battle greatly damaged the strength of the Xiongnu, and the Western Han Dynasty was able to control the Hexi region, laying the foundation for the opening of the Silk Road.
The horse stepped on the Huns, and the wolf was sealed
In the fourth year of Yuanjia (119 years ago), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty ordered Wei Qing and Huo Qubing to lead 50,000 cavalry and hundreds of thousands of infantry, respectively, out of Dingxiang and Daijun, and went deep into Mobei to find and destroy the main force of the Xiongnu. Huo Qubing led the army north for more than 2,000 miles, crossed Lihou Mountain, crossed the Gonglu River, and engaged the Xiongnu Zuoxian Wang.
He personally went to the front line, charged bravely, killed more than 70,000 Xiongnu, captured three Xiongnu Tuntou Wang, Han Wang and 83 generals, Xiangguo, Danghu, Duwei and other 83 people. This battle made the Xiongnu flee far away, and there was no royal court in Monan.
Huo Qubing took advantage of the victory to pursue to the Wolf Juxu Mountain (now Kent Mountain in the Mongolian People's Republic), held a sacrifice to the heavens at the Wolf Juxu Mountain, and held a sacrifice to the earth in the Guyan Mountain, and the troops were forced to Hanhai (now Lake Baikal, Russia). After this war, "the Huns fled far away, and there was no royal court in Monan".
Died young, but the legend lives on
In the sixth year of Yuanzhan (117 years ago), Huo Qu** died of illness at the age of twenty-four. In order to commemorate his outstanding military exploits and selfless dedication, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty posthumously awarded him the title of Marquis of Jinghuan. Huo Quzhi's heroic deeds and outstanding achievements have been recorded in history and become one of the spiritual symbols of the Chinese nation.
