Sun Mengjin (1893-1983) was named Yanzhao, a native of Ruian, Zhejiang, a master of Puxue in the late Qing Dynasty, Sun Yirang Zhehei, the third-generation owner of Ruian Yuhai Building, who studied in the old Ruian Middle School and graduated from the Political Economy Department of Beijing College of Law and Politics. During the ** period, he successively served as the secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Beiyang, the chief of the Salt Administration, the director of the Wenzhou Yuanyuan Library, the director of the Zhejiang Library, and the chief editor of the Tongzhi Museum of Zhejiang Province. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as a member of the Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Management Committee and a librarian of the Zhejiang Provincial Museum of Culture and History. During his tenure as the director of Wenzhou Yuanyuan Library and Zhejiang Library, Mr. Sun Mengjin donated the collection of three generations of the Sun family to Wenzhou Library and Zhejiang University Library, and more than 30,000 ancient books and books retained in Yuhailou were also nationalized, making important contributions to the protection of the documentary heritage of the township, the promotion of regional culture, and the creation of a new pattern of modern Wenzhou culture.

During the period when Mr. Sun Mengjin was in charge of Zhejiang Tu, when the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression entered a stalemate stage, Zhejiang Library was about to move its collection of books and institutions out of Hangzhou at the end of 1937, and the number of people relocated to the library site was sharply reduced several times. Hu Hairong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director (presiding over the work) of Zhejiang Library, reviewed the experience and achievements of Mr. Sun Mengjin as the director of Zhejiang Library from 1941 to 1944.

In recent years, nearly a quarter of the 175 rare ancient books selected by the Zhejiang University Library in the "National List of Rare Ancient Books" have come from this batch of donated books. Hu Yiyao, Deputy Director of Zhejiang University Library, commented on the value and content of the collection donated by Mr. Sun Mengjin to the School of Arts and Humanities of Zhejiang University. Zhejiang University has always attached great importance to the collation and research of the donated books of Yuhailou, and in recent years, it has compiled and published the "Compilation of Sun Yirang's Manuscripts", which has led some young scholars to study Sun Yirang and formed a good academic influence.

In addition to devoting himself to sorting out the Sun family's ancestors' criticism, inscriptions, and Ouhai Township documents, Mr. Sun Mengjin was also involved in the cause of cultural relics, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as a standing committee member of the Cultural Management Committee. In addition to books, there are also many precious cultural relics such as gold and stone collections, which are of high value. Lin Sisi, director of the Ruian Cultural Protection Institute (Yuhai Building), said that these precious cultural relics were carefully cared for by Sun Mengjin in the war years, and after the situation stabilized, they were donated to the country, which fully reflected his noble feelings of turning private into public.
