Ding Xuexiang first conveyed the best wishes of the President to the UAE for hosting the World Climate Action Summit, emphasizing that the President expressed high appreciation for the UAE, as the COP28 presidency, for actively leading the green and low-carbon transformation and vigorously promoting global climate governance, and wished the conference a complete success.
Ding Xuexiang pointed out that eight years ago, President ** and other leaders reached the Paris Agreement with the greatest political determination and wisdom, starting a new journey of global cooperation to address climate change. China has always kept its promises and made important contributions to global climate governance. China has vigorously promoted international cooperation on green development, energy revolution and climate change, and supported developing countries in enhancing their capacity to cope with climate change.
Ding Xuexiang stressed that in the face of the challenge of climate change, mankind shares a common destiny, and all parties should strengthen their determination and ability to respond together. We should practice multilateralism, adhere to the goals and principles set out in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Paris Agreement, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results. Accelerate the green transformation, actively increase the proportion of renewable energy, promote the clean, low-carbon and efficient use of traditional energy, and accelerate the formation of green and low-carbon production methods and lifestyles. In particular, developed countries should earnestly increase their support for developing countries in terms of finance, technology and capacity building, so as to turn the vision of action into reality.
During the meeting, Ding Xuexiang met with Mohammed of the United Arab Emirates, Hichilema of Zambia, Díaz Canel of Cuba, Muiz of Maldives, and UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
During the meeting with Mohammed, Ding Xuexiang said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, the China-Arab comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a new stage. The two sides need to further consolidate political mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation, build high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and jointly promote China's cooperation with Arab countries and GCC countries to a new level. China appreciates the efforts made by the Arab side in preparing for the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai. Mohammed said that Arab-Chinese relations have made great progress in recent years, thanked China for its strong support for the Dubai Climate Change Conference, and highly appreciated China's just position on the Palestinian issue.
During the meeting with Hichilema, Ding Xuexiang said that the traditional friendship between China and Zambia is deep. The two sides should strengthen practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and push bilateral relations to a higher level and in a wider range of fields. Mr. Hichilema expressed his gratitude to China for its strong support to Zambia and was willing to accelerate cooperation with China in various fields.
During the meeting with Díaz Canel, Ding Xuexiang said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Cuba relations have entered a new stage of higher political mutual trust, deeper practical cooperation, and a firmer foundation of public opinion. China is ready to work hand in hand with Cuba on the road of building socialism with national characteristics. Díazcanel said that Cuba firmly supports the major conceptual initiatives put forward by President China and is willing to work with China to push forward the special friendly relations between Cuba and China.
During the meeting with Mouiz, Ding Xuexiang said that the two countries should strengthen high-level political guidance, close practical cooperation and exchanges, and promote the future-oriented comprehensive friendly and cooperative partnership between China and Malaysia to a new level. Muiz said that the Maldivian side attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and is willing to maintain exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation at all levels.
During the meeting with Guterres, Ding Xuexiang said that China attaches great importance to the role of the United Nations and will continue to strengthen international cooperation on climate change. Guterres spoke positively of China's important progress in promoting carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and hoped to work with China to address the challenge of climate change.
