The design concept of the Beijing Art Center originated from the ancient granary along the Tongzhou Canal, known as the "cultural granary". Its geographical location is superior and unique, located along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, which is known as the thousand-year-old canal, carrying a heavy cultural heritage and historical memories. It is also located in a corner of the city's green heart forest park, which provides natural conditions for the innovation and exploration of outdoor festivals, immersive dramas and other art forms, and opens up an artistic space for the harmonious coexistence of man and nature.
The Beijing Art Center, the Beijing City Library and the Beijing Grand Canal Museum together constitute the three major cultural buildings in the sub-center of the city.
