MBA study abroad in Canadian business schools, analysis of application conditions

Mondo Education Updated on 2024-01-31

In recent years, MBA programs have been very popular, especially the MBA courses of some overseas universities, which are favored by many international students. Canada's MBA programs are among the best in the world, so the number of applicants is relatively high every year. However, applicants must meet the conditions, otherwise they are not eligible to apply.

1. Work experience

Generally speaking, MBA programs will require applicants to have work experience, although not all MBA programs offered by Canadian institutions will require this, but most MBA programs will still require applicants to provide work experience when applying. In addition, even if the program does not require it, if we can provide proof of work experience, it will add an extra boost to our application.

2. Academic background

Academic background is a must for any program, and applicants need to have a four-year undergraduate degree from a domestic university, or other equivalent qualifications. However, there will be differences in the admission requirements of business schools of different universities in Canada, and some universities may also allow students with non-four-year undergraduate degrees to apply, but the actual notice issued by the school shall prevail.

3. Language level

When you want to study abroad, you must master a foreign language, and if you don't have enough skills, it will be difficult to communicate with others normally, let alone study professional courses. Canadian colleges and universities are taught in English, so students need to have a high level of English, and local colleges and universities generally recognize IELTS and TOEFL scores, so you can take the corresponding test according to your personal situation. However, the requirements of business schools are usually relatively high, and generally IELTS needs to be 7A score of 0 or more, a TOEFL score of 100 or more. In addition, considering the number of applicants, the intensity of competition and other factors, it is recommended that the higher the score, the better.

4、gmat/gre

Generally speaking, most business schools will require applicants to provide GRE or GMAT scores, and most MBA programs require GMAT scores. However, some colleges and universities have now adjusted to allow applicants to use GRE scores instead of GMAT scores, and GMAT is more difficult than GRE, so this is good news for applicants, of course, it depends on whether the school has this rule.

5. Letters of recommendation

Letters of recommendation are also one of the essential documents for graduate students to apply to overseas institutions, whether they are applying to business schools or other institutions, they are almost essential. Generally speaking, we need to contact our supervisors, professors, interns or supervisors at work to issue two or three letters of recommendation for us, preferably with a certain social status and familiar enough with us.

6. Personal statement

In the personal statement, we should explain our academic background, scientific research experience, future planning, etc., so that the school admissions officers can see our advantages, and at the same time, we should also explain our love for the MBA program and the reasons for applying for the program, so that the admissions officers can see our development potential in this field, so as to enhance our competitiveness.
