A trip to Myanmar Myanmar outside the media perspective

Due to the concentrated and large number of reports on the war in northern Myanmar, to a certain extent, the domestic public has some misunderstanding of Myanmar, believing that the war in Myanmar is serious. In normal times, there are relatively few reports on Myanmar in China, and they usually report only when they encounter an emergency or a key issue, which makes the audience's understanding of the country insufficient and incomplete.

The reason why the domestic audience perceives Myanmar as insecure is largely due to the recent domestic coverage of the war and the instability of social order in northern Myanmar, and this time I know exactly how widespread the war is in the country. After nearly 10 days of visits, we learned that the fighting has not extended, and its scope is limited to a few areas in northern Myanmar, the so-called war is relatively controllable, and the overall stability of Myanmar society is very good.

There are 135 ethnic groups in Myanmar, twice as many as in China, and whether or not ethnic relations can be properly handled has a bearing on the stability of Myanmar's state and society. As Myanmar's neighbor, China's stability is vital to China's interests. On the one hand, there are a large number of Chinese living in Myanmar, and if the border is in turmoil and the country is unstable, it will produce refugees and affect the feelings of the people of China and MyanmarOn the other hand, from an economic and trade point of view, Myanmar is an important market for China's future investment and product exports, which also depends on its national stability.

As soon as some U.S. and Western countries saw the recent visit of China** and the military to Myanmar, they subconsciously carried out Western-style "brain supplements" on relevant security cooperation. Some of them wear ideological glasses, suggesting that Myanmar is still an "outlier" in the international community and are wary of China and Myanmar "getting closer" in terms of security, while others portray China as a power that is trying to intervene and even manipulate Myanmar's internal affairs in light of the recent war in northern Myanmar. It has to be said that these imaginations are highly Westernized, and they reflect the concept of security in the minds of the political elites of the United States and the West, which is very different from the actual situation.

China hopes that Myanmar will achieve stability as soon as possible, and its attitude of cooperating with Myanmar for common development will never change. This is reflected not only at the national level, but also in the sincere attitude of Chinese society, because there is a broad and firm consensus on "common security" within Chinese society. But the way we can achieve this is not to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries by force, or even to transform other countries according to our own wishful thinking, which China has never done and will not do in the future. Our choice is based on the well-being of the people, and on the premise of mutual respect, we use win-win cooperation to eliminate the pain points of people's livelihood as much as possible, and the fight against fraud in northern Myanmar is a typical example.
