Several projects have confirmed plans to rely on the follow-up solution, Polygon CDK, but the fate of others is unknown.

Polygon Labs announced on December 12 that it has ended its contribution to Polygon Edge, a platform utilized by multiple blockchain projects.

The company said it will shift its focus to Polygon CDK, a follow-on solution that aims to create a unified Layer 2 ecosystem with interoperability and a single liquidity pool. It highlights the growing popularity of the Polygon CDK and says it is "quickly becoming the go-to application chain solution for many projects".

The company notes that Polygon Edge is an open-source project that can be developed by the community. However, it does not make it clear whether the project has enough community support to survive beyond its own contributions.

Polygon suggests that many projects that use Edge may migrate to the Polygon CDK. It lists 15 projects dedicated to building on its CDK, including but not limited to cryptocurrency exchange OKX, gaming-focused chain Immutable, crypto payment and card platform Wirex, and e-commerce platform Flipkart.

DogeChain (DC) is a project that has not yet confirmed a migration plan and aims to act as a Layer 2 network (DOGE) for Dogecoin.

DogeChain's *** describes plans to use Polygon Edge, as well as the recent August. 31 blog posts confirm that the mainnet is currently built on Edge. Dogechain's GitHub page also indicates that the project was forked from Polygon Edge.

Despite the fact that DogeChain has a market cap of only $29 million, it is one of the most well-known projects using Polygon Edge. Due to the popularity of the "DOGE" meme, DOGEChain has gained traction on social **. It has also been criticized by Dogecoin developers, who have emphasized that DogeChain has no official connection to the core project and said that DC is.
