(Text: Jing Xinlin listens).
Overnight, temperatures plummeted and snowflakes fell.
The earth waited for the snow like cotton, and we waited for the notice of school closure.
Some people complained: When we were children, no matter how heavy the snow was, we would step on the thick snow to go to school, why do children now have to stop classes when it snows?
Indeed, the post-70s, post-80s and even post-90s generations almost never stopped classes because of heavy snow when they were in school.
I still vividly remember when I was a child walking on thick snow and going to school with a shovel to clear the snow. I still vividly remember one time, I wrote an essay on my feelings about snow clearing, and the teacher read it aloud in the class as a model text.
In those days, almost every village had a primary school.
As a rural child, we have a unique affection for the heavy snow in winter. Fun facts in the snow often make us forget the bitter cold of winter. The image of stepping on the snow to go to school is a wonderful memory of our childhood.
When I opened the door early in the morning, I found that the whole world had become a book wrapped in silver and pink makeup, and my mood immediately became extremely excited. The snow-covered villages, with the wisps of cooking smoke rising above the houses, are like stepping back in time to a fairy tale.
From home to school, it was only a few hundred meters away, and along the way, we shouted that the aunt who was clearing the snow in front of our house arrived at the school.
Even if the frozen road is slippery, that is, if you fall a few more times on the road, you never feel that it is dangerous, because there are no cars on the road at all, and there are few pedestrians. Naughty children will roll a few more times on the snowy and frozen road after they fall.
When I arrived at the school, the first thing must be to clear the snow, and the snow on the entire campus had to be cleaned up by the teachers and students.
I don't know when people in the village began to settle in the city. Later, some children from the village went to school in the city, and the small school in the village, which was once full of students, gradually decreased the number of students, and the classrooms gradually emptied.
Later, the primary school in the village was integrated and merged.
After the school was withdrawn and merged, there was no school left in the village. The playful laughter of a group of children on their way to school is no longer heard, and there are no wisps of cooking smoke rising above the kitchens of every house.
The peasant households who remained in the villages, and their economic conditions improved, so they sent their children to study in better schools nearby, or directly traveled dozens of miles every day to send them to county schools.
The children's schools are far away from home, parents need to pick them up and drop off from school, there are more pedestrians on the road, and there are more cars.
From home to school, the road to school is getting farther and farther, and it is no longer possible to walk, electric cars, tricycles, cars, buses, and all kinds of transportation have appeared.
On a snowy day, there is so much snow on the road, the frozen road is slippery, and no matter what kind of transportation is not safe.
Safety first, so we can only suspend classes.
