There is a striking chapter in the long history of the shocking Battle of Stalingrad in World War II.

The fierce battle, which lasted nine months from the winter of 1942 to the spring of 1943, became the focus of the European theater and was hailed as one of the most brutal battles in the history of World War II. The flames of war began on June 28, 1942, and the Stalingrad region became a place of war. After street fighting that shook the world, the nine-month-long fierce battle finally ended in the victory of the Soviet Red Army.

As the situation became clearer, the German army began to decline, and the Soviets gradually launched a full-scale counterattack. The battle cost both the Soviet Union and Germany more than 8 million people, up to 2 million. The Germans lost nearly 350,000 casualties, and the Soviet losses were even more staggering, reaching 750,000, twice as many as the German army. The Battle of Stalingrad left an eternal page in the global anti-fascist war. Stalingrad, which was of great importance to the Soviet Union, was located on the west bank of the Volga River basin and was a transport hub connecting the south, southwest and west, with abundant resources and the largest industrial center.

The Red Army defended the city at all costs, waging a life-and-death struggle with the Germans. In the nine-month battle, with firm will and unremitting efforts, they successfully defeated the enemy and dealt a heavy blow to the arrogant and domineering German army. Between 1942 and 1943, the Battle of Stalingrad was unparalleled in its brutality.

Even the warriors who have been through countless battles feel endless despair and fear in them. The Soviet and German armies exceeded one million, and the battlefield was full of corpses and devastation, which can be called the most painful page in World War II. However, it was precisely because of the experience of the Battle of Stalingrad that the Soviet Union rapidly improved its military quality and gradually shifted from defense to offense. This undoubtedly hastened the demise of Hitler's Empire. Looking back on this shocking history, we deeply feel the devastating damage that war has brought to human civilization.

For us today, this history is even more bleak. It is a constant reminder to respect life and cherish peace. Although more than 70 years have passed since the Battle of Stalingrad, the lessons of the battle are worth remembering forever. After all, human history is not an ode to triumph, but more of a story of blood, tears and sacrifice. As we live in this beautiful homeland, we should deeply understand the preciousness of every happy life, and strive to master knowledge and skills to lay a more solid foundation for the future.

May we call for peace together, protect this wonderful homeland, and create a carefree world for the next generation. Only in this way can the painful lessons of the Battle of Stalingrad be transformed into a warm and harmonious force that will lead all mankind towards a more prosperous tomorrow.
