In the early days of the Republic of China, the generals in the army were important pillars of the country. They not only made great achievements in the military field, but also led the establishment of revolutionary base areas and made important contributions to the strengthening of the revolutionary armed forces. From marshals to colonels, the rank of military officer highlights the merits of each general. However, among these 36 military experts, 11 were posthumously awarded the title of military strategists, and they were not able to witness the founding of New China with their own eyes, but their merits and talents could not be ignored.
Among them, General Ye Ting was a Hakka in Guishan County, Guangdong, who led the Nanchang Uprising and participated in the creation of the New Fourth Army. Unfortunately, he was killed on the way back to Yan'an on a plane in 1946. Xu Jishen was a native of Lu'an, Anhui Province, graduated from the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, and had rich military theoretical knowledge and practical combat experience, but was brutally killed because of Zhang Guotao's jealousy. Zeng Zhongsheng and Duan Dechang were respectively from Zixing City, Hunan Province, and Nanxian County, Yiyang City, respectively, and they both made great achievements in the military field, but their fate was unfortunate. Cai Shenxi was a native of Liling, Hunan, and one of the main founders of the Red Army.
Fang Zhimin, Liu Zhidan, and Huang Gonglue were all generals who were in charge of their own affairs, and they not only made great achievements in the military field, but also led the establishment of revolutionary base areas, and were Red Army generals who made important contributions to the strengthening of the revolutionary armed forces. Peng Xuefeng and Zuo Quan were the highest-ranking generals of the New Fourth Army and the Eighth Route Army during the Eight-Year War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and they were also very outstanding military strategists. Although these revolutionary martyrs, who were posthumously awarded the title of military strategists, were unable to witness the founding of New China with their own eyes, they made tremendous contributions to the development and growth of the country with their lives and talents.
Their spirit will always inspire us, remember history, and carry on the glorious traditions of heroes.
