The Beijing News (Reporter Zhan Shengjie) reporter learned from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics that on December 10, the establishment of the Yan Culture Archaeological Research Center and the first Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Archaeological Forum were held in Beijing.

Yan culture was formally formed in the Western Zhou Dynasty when the Yan Dynasty was built, and has continued to develop for more than 3,000 years, forming a regional culture of generosity, tolerance and symbiosis. The scope of the Yan cultural circle mainly includes the three places of present-day Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, and reaches as far as the western Liaoning region and the Korean Peninsula, and there are also close cultural exchanges and integration with the Loess Plateau and the Mongolian Plateau. The archaeological discoveries and studies of the Liulihe site in Beijing, the Yanxiadu site in Hebei, and the Zhangjiayuan site in Tianjin have confirmed the complexity and unity of the Yan culture from different time and space. The Research Center for Archaeology of Yan Culture is jointly established by the Institute of Archaeology of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Archaeological Research Center of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Beijing Institute of Archaeology, the Hebei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the Tianjin Cultural Heritage Protection Center, the School of Archaeology and Museums of Peking University, the School of History of Capital Normal University, and the Institute of Archaeology of Beijing Union University. Guan Qiang, deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and Cheng Jianhua, deputy secretary-general of Beijing, jointly unveiled the research center.

Cheng Jianhua pointed out that the establishment of the Yan Culture and Archaeology Research Center and the convening of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Archaeological Forum will further promote the coordinated development of historical and archaeological research and cultural undertakings in the three places, work together to promote the protection of cultural heritage, deepen cultural exchanges, promote cultural dissemination, and jointly embark on a new journey of building the modern civilization of the Chinese nation. Guan Qiang fully affirmed the cultural relics and archaeological work in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and asked the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to establish the idea of "big archaeology", adhere to academic guidance, consolidate the work foundation, strengthen open cooperation, and put forward ardent expectations for archaeological data collation, safety and standardized management, and public publicity.

In the future, the eight cooperative units in the three places will take the Yan Culture Archaeological Research Center as the base point to effectively enhance the mission of promoting the coordinated development of archaeology in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, gather talent teams, integrate research forces, realize resource sharing, complement each other's advantages, promote academic exchanges, improve archaeological capabilities, and promote the high-quality development of archaeological work in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei.
