Three years have passed in a flash, and with the strong support of the state, many poor households have got rid of poverty and entered the door of a well-off life. Their hearts were filled with gratitude and praise for the policies of the party and the state.
Unfortunately, there are always a handful of people in society who don't know how to be content and grateful. They are often greedy and make unreasonable demands that go beyond the scope of the policy. Your patient explanation is not useful, and the warm-hearted communication is ineffective, as long as it does not satisfy its greed, the relevant person in charge and ** have become the object of their complaints and petitions. Wang Moumou, a poor household that my colleague Lao Liu cared for, is such a typical example. In his prime, he could rely on his own labor to support his mother and himself, but he chose to refuse to work and often troubled the village committee. Although this kind of person is really a headache, out of humanity, Wang Moumou was assessed as a poor household and enjoyed various income-increasing policies and welfare subsidies.
Even so, Wang Moumou is still dissatisfied. He either hangs out or petitions, and he turns a blind eye at the city and county levels, and goes straight to the provincial level or even higher. Each petition means that the local government has to spend manpower and material resources to persuade them to return, usually accompanied by financial compensation. Wang Moumou's petition under various unreasonable excuses can be described as a typical extortion behavior. Although what he did did not constitute a crime, his actions were undoubtedly an abuse and challenge to poverty alleviation policies.
Similar examples can be found in other poor households. For example, one of the families I helped was also inadequate, and they always wanted to get some additional unruly benefits, such as unwarranted requests for house renovation or additional homesteads. While I can't meet these illegal demands, I'm the best of them, at least I won't petition. Relatively speaking, there are lazy poor households like Ren, even if their family is difficult, they have no intention of changing, and often indulge in alcohol and games.
The state's poverty alleviation policy focuses on two-way material and spiritual help, but for those who are rigid in their thinking and unwilling to work hard to improve their own conditions, the policy can only provide basic material security. For example, those who are lazy and do not want to make progress because they are benefited by state aid, or those poor households who are still grateful and insufficient despite the dedicated help of poverty alleviation cadres, have become difficult problems in poverty alleviation work.
The country's achievements in poverty alleviation are undeniable, but at the same time, it has also bred some "lazy people" and "white-eyed wolves" who rely on the spirit and do not know how to be grateful. There is really nothing that can be done about such people, and they may only become a laughing stock in social chatter.
