Well-known game designer Jonathan Blow (Braid, The Witness) aims to make a room-scale VR game and is hiring a team to develop it.

Jonathan Blow created the early big hit puzzle game Raid (2008) and found it again successful with The Witness (2016). Now, the Bronze Anniversary Edition will be released in April 2024.

Now, Jonathan Blow is working on a VR game designed specifically for room-level VR.

Jonathan Blow tweeted for a lead programmer with extensive experience in VR game delivery, Android and Vulkan rendering, who could lead the rest of the team, for a "new VR game."

The tweet read: "This game has a boundary-breaking design and is committed to creating room-scale games that are untethered. Jonathan Blow said the game was scheduled to be completed "in a relatively short period of time."

Since Jonathan Blow mentions "Android", it's likely that the game will be a Meta Quest game. However, at the moment, Jonathan Blow has not been officially confirmed.

Jonathan Blow revealed more about his journey to virtual reality, "I've been interested in VR for a long time and managed to get The Witness running on Valve pre-production hardware (before HTC Vive). ”

Now that VR hardware has reached a certain threshold, it's pretty good, so starting to make VR games now would be a good place to start. ”
