According to the latest data released by the research institute DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants), in the third quarter of this year, the shipments of mini LED TVs in the high-end market increased by 26% year-on-year to 9050,000 units, followed by OLED TVs (1.36 million units). In last year's Mini LED TV market, Samsung Electronics dominated the market with a share of more than 70%, mainly thanks to the sales of Neo QLED products. However, this year, Samsung Electronics' market share has dropped significantly due to a 26% year-on-year decrease in shipments. During this period, Hisense and TCL's Mini LED TV shipments increased 18 times in just one year, and TCL's shipments increased by 112% compared to the same period last year, making their market share also increase significantly.
Mini LED TV is a liquid crystal display (LCD) TV that contains dense LEDs of 100-200 microns in size around the backlight to be used as a light source, and other traditional technologies of this technology have a better display effect.
In the past 3-4 years, with the vigorous development of the Mini LED market, the first chain of Mini LED components has been established in China, consolidating the leading advantages of Chinese TV manufacturers in the Mini LED TV market. TCL, through its display subsidiary, CSOT, has successfully achieved the vertical integration of products and displays, ensuring the stability of LCD panels**.
DSCC believes that in the high-end TV market, the Mini LED product line has become a competitor to OLED TVs. Chinese companies are expected to use their strengths in the Mini LED TV market to challenge Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' dominance in the high-end TV market.
Last year, TCL surpassed LG Electronics in the TV market for the first time in terms of shipments, ranking second in the world. This year, Hisense has risen to third place. South Korean TV makers such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics plan to use their technological advantages to cope with competition from Chinese companies that have adopted low-price strategies.
