General Duan Suquan has been in the army for 55 years, and he is led by more than 1,000 generals, most of whom are ecstatic. However, a small number of generals accepted it calmly, but they did not enjoy it. Among them, General Duan Suquan is one of these few. His life deeds are extraordinary, and at the age of 18 he has served as the political commissar of the independent division, and his military achievements are prominent. Although most of them were promoted to lieutenant generals compared with those of the same rank, Duan Suquan was only awarded the title of "temporary major general". How so?It seems to imply that the star may be retracted. Couldn't the Central Military Commission enforce the law impartially?Let's take a look at it in detail.

The glory days of the past.

Duan Suquan, born in 1916 in Chaling, Hunan, was born in a peasant family and went to private school as a child. At the age of 10, he participated in the agricultural ** movement, showing a desire for meaningful work. In 1930, at the age of 14, he joined the Chinese Communist Youth League, and soon became the secretary of the Communist Youth League and the head of the organization department in Chaling County, Hunan. In 1932, he joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and became a member of the Red Army. However, the first crisis he faced came quickly, in October 1933, the independent division as a cover was surrounded by enemy troops, and after nearly a month of heroic resistance, the soldiers were almost completely annihilated, and the division commander Wang Guangguang was captured. Duan Suquan was wounded in the battle and was sent to safety on November 26, escaping the final encirclement. Upon learning of the collapse of the Independent Division, Duan Suquan was grief-stricken. He chose to return to his hometown and begged in the direction of his home with difficulty. When he returned home, his parents felt sorry for him because of his embarrassed appearance. The local Kuomintang troops did not care about him, believing him to be just a deserter. Duan Suquan was at home for three years, deceived the Kuomintang and his father, and lived an ordinary life. However, longing for the Red Army has always haunted me.

In September 1937, Duan Suquan finally learned of the Red Army and returned to the organization. His Red Army comrades-in-arms recounted the hardships of the Long March, and Duan Suquan was inspired. He resolutely said goodbye to his family and set out to find an organization. After many twists and turns, he finally found the Red Army and began his journey anew.

The war was raging, but the award of titles was stormy.

In 1937, Duan Suquan, who was only 21 years old, entered Kang Da to study, became a political instructor of Kang Da, and later served as the section chief of the Propaganda Department of the General Political Department. In May 1940, Duan Suquan was on the front again, and by 1946, he had become the commander of the Rehe Military Region. In August 1947, he took over as the commander of the Eighth Column of the Northeast Field Army, and actively participated in important battles such as the attack on Jinzhou, Liaoxi, and the liberation of Shenyang, and made many military achievements. By April 1949, Duan Suquan had become the deputy chief of staff of the Northeast Military Region. After the liberation, due to his youth and ability to learn, he was transferred to the Northeast Military District as the commander of the Air Force, and later became the first deputy commander of the Volunteer Air Force. However, when the title was conferred in 1955, Duan Suquan's promotion was affected. The reason lies in the political trial, there was a period of three years, Duan Suquan broke away from the party organization, and the organizers needed to thoroughly investigate everything that happened in these three years. Although Duan Suquan didn't care about this, he accepted the result calmly. He was to be awarded the title, and finally won unanimous praise. Since then, he has worked in important positions, including deputy commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, vice president of the PLA Military and Political University, and political commissar of the Military Academy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

On September 28, 1993, Duan Suquan died of illness at the age of 77.
