Beijing, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said on Dec. 13 that 1.3 million people have been displaced in the shelter facilities set up by the agency in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

As of 11 December, some 1.3 million displaced people had taken refuge in 155 facilities in the Gaza Strip, UNRWA said in a statement on the same day. More than 1.1 million people have taken refuge in 98 UNRWA-designated facilities in the areas of the central and southern cities of Khan Younis and Rafah crossings in the Gaza Strip.

According to this agency, the number of people killed among the staff of the agency in the Gaza Strip has risen to 135 since the outbreak of the new Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
