The Premier League duo will be among the favourites to return to competition in the new year as Manchester City look to defend the title they won last season. Arsenal will face Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League, while defending champions Manchester City will take on Copenhagen.
Both Premier League sides will be playing away from home in the first leg and there is no doubt that both sides will find their draw favourable and will both be looking to go far in the competition. Manchester City won the Champions League for the first time last season, while Arsenal played in the Champions League for the first time since 2016-17, having last entered in 2006. FC Copenhagen will visit Manchester for the second time after their group stage clash with Manchester United, and their 4-3 win over Ten Hag's side in Denmark was one of the main reasons why they finished second in the group.
The Danes are considered by many to be the weakest in the competition, while Porto have reached the round of 16 perennially and qualified as second in Group H, level on 12 points with Barcelona. Arsenal last faced Porto in the round of 16 in 2009/10, when the Gunners lost 2-1 in the first leg and thrashed Portugal 5-0 in the second. In the six meetings between the two teams in Europe, Arsenal have won three and Porto have won two and drawn one.
Among the other draws, 14-time champions Real Madrid take on Bundesliga side Leipzig, last season's runners-up Inter Milan take on Atletico Madrid, Harry Kane and Bayern Munich take on Lazio and the first leg will be played in Rome. Paris Saint-Germain, who beat Newcastle to finish second in the group, will face Real Sociedad in the first leg in Paris, PSV Eindhoven against Borussia Dortmund and Napoli against Barcelona.
