The eight major schools of Buddhism

There have been many schools of Buddhism in China, and there are eight main sects. The first is the Three Treatises Sect, also known as the Dharma Nature Sect;The second is the Yoga Sect, also known as the Dharma Xiang Sect;The third is the Tiantai sect;Fourth, the first sect of virtue;Fifth, Zen Buddhism;Sixth, the Pure Land Sect;The seventh is the Vinaya;The eighth is Tantra. This is commonly referred to as the eight major schools of sexuality, physiognomy, Taiwan, sage, Zen, purity, law, and esotericism.

1. Three Treatises.

The Three Treatises, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, is also known as the Sex Sect because of its emphasis on not allowing the realm of independence outside the mind. The philosophical basis of this sect is the theory of karma that Prajna can break all dharma attachments and cultivate goodness.

2. Yoga Buddhism.

Yoga Buddhism, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, is also known as the Enlightenment Sect because of its emphasis on the mind and the soul. The philosophical basis of this sect is the "Thirty Treatises on Wisdom" created by the family members, hence the name.

3. Tiantai Sect.

The Tiantai sect, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, was formed by the founder Zhiyuan's efforts to play the "Myoho-renge-kyo".

Fourth, the first sect of the virtuous.

Xianshouzong, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, is named after the Huayan Sutra founded by Xinxing in the Sui Dynasty as the fundamental classic.

5. Zen Buddhism. Zen Buddhism, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, advocates the practice of meditation, hence the name. And because it calls itself "spreading the Buddha's heart seal", with the purpose of realizing the inherent Buddha nature of all living beings, it is also called the Buddha's heart sect. The ancestral garden of Zen Buddhism includes Henan Shaolin Temple, Anhui Yuexi Second Ancestor Temple, Tianzhu Mountain Three Ancestral Temple, Hubei Huangmei Four Ancestral Temple, Five Ancestral Temple and Guangdong Nanhua Temple.

6. Pure Land Buddhism.

The Pure Land sect, one of the Chinese Buddhist sects, was formed because of its dedication to the Pure Land of Amitabha Buddha. The Pure Land sect began in the Eastern Jin Dynasty with Shi Huiyuan. The Pure Land Buddha advocates that as long as you recite the Buddha with one mind, at the end of your life, Amitabha Buddha will come to guide you to the Western Blissful World.

VII. Vinaya. Vinaya, one of the Buddhist sects in China, was named after the "Four Divisions" of the Five Laws. The precepts of this sect were strict, and because of the influence of Hinayana in India at that time, it regarded a disciplinarian as an opportunity for the holy path. At the same time, it pays attention to the study and practice of various prestige norms.
