According to Feiyou, due to the continued downturn in the professional air cargo market, the American Jet Cargo Company (AmeriJet) recently decided to suspend the operation of its three 757s. Tracking software found that one of the N1902s had flown to Marana Airport (MZJ), a well-known "aircraft graveyard" last week, and it looks like it won't be used anymore.

American Jet Cargo is one of the oldest cargo companies in the United States, founded in 1974, and now has a fleet size of 24 aircraft, including 18 767s and 6 757s. Its planes are all relatively old, with an average age of 28 years. Jet Cargo is headquartered in Florida and has a global presence, including in Hangzhou.
But Jet Cargo has recently been said to be "financially tight" and has fallen into a business crisis. In fact, due to the continued downturn in the specialty freight market, the various freight companies in the United States are having a hard time. For example, Western Global filed for bankruptcy a few months ago, and Amazon leased a large number of freighters.

A downturn in the freight market does not mean a decrease in freight volumes. The professional air cargo market was once prosperous during the epidemic, but now what's going on?It turned out that after the epidemic, the U.S. civil aviation industry has been greatly improved, passenger flights have resumed frantically, and the volume of belly cargo space has increased rapidly. During the pandemic, many freight companies have significantly expanded their production capacity, resulting in no cargo to pull.
American Jet Cargo is a typical "bad luck". It originally had only seven or eight aircraft, but during the epidemic, it saw that it was good to introduce fifteen or sixteen in one go. But the situation changed too quickly, and neither DHL nor USPS renewed their contracts with it. If you rely only on bulk cargo, jet cargo will be very dangerous!

It's unclear how Jet Cargo will emerge from the crisis. Since the cost of belly cargo compartments is much lower than that of specialized freighters, and now that international passenger traffic is recovering very well on the U.S. domestic, European and Atlantic routes, it may have to look for opportunities on the U.S.-China routes.
