Shang Hui, director of the Art Theory Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, is the academic curator of this exhibition. The exhibition is located in the exhibition hall on the first floor of the National Art Museum of China, with a total of more than 60 pieces of Wang Renhua's Gongbi figure paintings, showing Wang Renhua's national culture and art world constructed by Wang Renhua since the 90s of the last century in more than 30 years of diligent exploration in Gongbi figure painting.
Since 2000, when Wang Renhua's "Snooping" won the gold medal of the "New Century: Chinese Style Chinese Painting Exhibition", Wang Renhua's paintings have gradually entered the public's field of vision and have attracted more and more attention. In the painting, a classical woman gently lifts the corner of the curtain and looks out, yearning for the beauty of the outside world, longing for freedom, and the picture has a hint of desolation. The composition of the painting is deceptively simple, but it has a lot of charm. She skillfully connects the classical and the modern, the individual and the world through her paintings, which has left a deep impression on the public.
Wang Renhua's paintings are both realistic and virtual, and they also have a freehand temperament in the techniques of gongbi. In order to break the conventional method of Gongbi figure painting, she adopted the method of flat skin painting, which harmonizes the skin of the characters in the painting with the background color, and uses a variety of colors such as brown, purple, gray, etc., to form an eclectic color style. Conventional gongbi figure paintings often make it easy for the viewer to make real associations based on the images in the paintings, but Wang Renhua's unique use of colors seems to remind the viewer of the existence of the paintings themselves.
He Jiaying, vice chairman of the Chinese Artists Association, said in his speech that Wang Renhua's works give people the feeling of being unrefined and clearly recognizable. Wang Renhua is also a poetic person, with an innate sensitivity to things, and can instantly capture poetic emotions. A true painter must have such a talent, whether a person's painting has aura or not, whether there is something thoughtful, also depends on the individual's talent, but also depends on the connection between man and nature. Wang Renhua's talent is not only painting, but also independent stories and vivid lives. "Reality and Illusion" is the theme of Wang Renhua's exhibition, which interweaves the dynamics of reality and imagination, and unfolds an artistic gesture full of tension.
