Baldur's Gate 3 shines at The Game Awards 2023, with the Larian studio taking home a number of new accolades for this game.
Ahead of The Game Awards 2023, it's clear that this will be a special night for Baldur's Gate 3. Larian Studios has confirmed that it will announce the release date of the Xbox Series X S there, and the game has a total of eight nominations (tied with Alan Wake 2 for the most), and there are some big surprise possibilities. Baldur's Gate 3 delivers all of this perfectly at The Game Awards 2023.
For those who don't have a ** show or are just curious, it's worth recalling how many awards Baldur's Gate 3 won in this showcase. Among its 8 direct nominations and inclusion of the Voice of Gamers Awards, it won a total of 6 awards at The Game Awards 2023. In addition, it was also a night of excitement for Xbox players, as Baldur's Gate 3 not only did not announce the release date of its Xbox Series X S, but also made a secret sale.
Game of the Year.
Best Game Oriented.
Best Story. Best ** and soundtrack.
Best Performance. Best Community Support.
Best RPG.
Best Multiplayer Game.
Baldur's Gate 3 won the coveted Game of the Year Award, Player-Voted Voice of the Gamer Award, Best Performance, Best Community Support, Best RPG Award, and Best Multiplayer Award at The Game Awards 2023. These awards are well deserved by the game and the studio. Needless to say, the first two were given the huge repercussions it caused across the industry, while Neil Newbon won the Best Performance award for his role as Asdalon in Baldur's Gate 3. Newbon had previously said that he considered giving up acting before this game, and luckily he didn't. Asdelon was one of the many standout performances in the game, ensuring that this award would be won no matter what.
With the plethora of updates coming out of Baldur's Gate 3 over the course of the year, it's no surprise that the Best Community Support award is awarded, and Baldur's Gate 3 is essentially a CRPG. It takes advantage of the rules of DND 5e, and with a slight twist, it has interesting choices, builds, and more elements that almost guarantee it to win the Best RPG award. For some, the award for best multiplayer may come as a surprise because players haven't responded enthusiastically to it. In effect, the player creates a character in someone else's game and can't use that character outside of the game. So, for example, if the host is playing without them, that character can still be used. It feels a lot like a real table game, which also helped it win this award.
Baldur's Gate 3 did not win nominations for Best Story and Best Game Orientation, both of which lost to Alan Vic 2, as well as Best ** and Soundtrack. Final Fantasy 16 won the latter award.
