Three Zhuge Liang who were mythologized by later generations: Zhuge Liang, Xu Maogong, Liu Bowen

Mondo History Updated on 2024-01-31

Rich in talents. The military generals of the past dynasties are like carp crossing the river, and there is a blowout in troubled times. Some people's names have long been lost to the dust of history, and some people's names are still shining in future generations.

From the book, we learn the stories of these many heroic spirits, and we are enthusiastic about their battles in the north and south, and we also admire their strategizing and decision-making layout.

However, "it is better to believe in books than to have no books", and we should not only focus on what we can see, or what others want us to see. You should also have some thoughts of your own.

The French thinker Pascal said, "Man is a thinking reed".

Life is as fragile as a reed, but we have precious thoughts, which no one can take away (I suddenly felt that I was wrong here, some people don't have their own thoughts at all, and they are all over the world, and their mindsets, thoughts, and steel seals are still there.) Some people's minds can be taken away. I said that ideas cannot be taken away and should be excluded from such people).

Therefore, with your own thinking, you can re-examine the mythologized characters, so that people can understand them more objectively and rationally. The three mythologized "Zhuge Liang" we want to re-recognize today are Zhuge Liang, Li Tao and Liu Ji.

Clause. 1. Zhuge Liang.

The poet "Du Fu wrote nearly 20 poems in his life to remember Zhuge Liang, one is to praise him for his outstanding contributions to the establishment of Shu Han", "the merit covers the three kingdoms, and the name becomes the eight arrays", "the three divisions are planned, and the eternal clouds are a feather".

The second is for Zhuge Liang to sigh for the success of the Northern Expedition, "He died before he left the army, and the hero was full of tears", "The river does not turn, and the hatred is lost and swallowed Wu".

Zhuge Liang devoted his life to Liu Bei's father and son, and after his death, he exhausted his "energy" for the great cause of the Northern Expedition and the revival of the Han Dynasty. He was worried about the country and the people, and his infinite loyalty to the king was admired by later generations.

Therefore, in order to recognize Zhuge Liang's loyalty, the emperors of later generations made him a model. Even an ancestral hall was built to be enshrined. During the Suzong period of the Tang Dynasty, Zhuge Liang was put into the temple of Jiang Taigong Wucheng Wang and became one of the "Ten Philosophers".

So some people say that Zhuge Liang has entered the martial temple and is one of the ten philosophers, don't you understand the ancients? Why do you say that people's military talents are exaggerated? This is a manifestation of the lack of thought, and reading books and history will not think for themselves at all. It's the equivalent of eating something that someone else chewed and spit out.

Why did Tang Suzong get this martial temple out, it was nothing more than the need for rule. And why Zhuge Liang was able to go in, one is that he is loyal, Liu Bei said that Adou is overwhelmed, and he can replace Adou. But even if Adou only eats, drinks and has fun all day long, Zhuge Liang still does his best to assist him. Zhuge Liang's idea of loyalty to the monarch is exactly what the rulers of all dynasties need.

During the Song Dynasty, why did Zhao Kuangyin remove Bai Qi and Lian Po from the Wucheng Temple after visiting the Wucheng Temple, because they had not listened to the monarch's orders. Before and after, 23 people, including Wu Qi, Han Xin, Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Zhou Yafu, were removed from the Wu Temple. It was precisely because Zhao Kuangyin felt that they did not meet the requirements of his own rule that he removed the portraits of these people.

In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang even abolished the martial temple, without it, it was to suppress the meritorious generals, which was not in line with his Zhu Yuanzhang's rule.

Therefore, being able to enter the martial temple does not mean how outstanding the military talent is, but to meet the preferences and needs of the ruler.

Of course, to say that Zhuge Liang has no military talent at all, it is of course biased. It's just that Zhuge Liang's control of the current situation, as well as his strategy and command skills in internal affairs and army management are superior to him.

Back to the topic, after Zhuge Liang's great achievements were passed on to be miraculous, later generations gradually mythologized him.

In the Ming Dynasty, popular ** prevailed, and Luo Guanzhong's "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" directly pushed Zhuge Liang's mythological road to the peak.

Luo Guanzhong even wrote the words "Wolong and phoenix chicks win the world". directly pushed Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong to the top position of strategists.

But as a result, Liu Bei could only have a corner of peace, looking at the mountains and sighing.

How divine is Zhuge Liang in Romance? Many strategies that are not Zhuge Liang have been placed on Zhuge Liang's body by Luo Guanzhong. The first battle was to burn Bowangpo, but this battle was done by Liu Bei;then burned Xinye, which was also done by Liu Bei;Burning Chibi, Zhou Yu did it;The empty city plan, Zhao Yun did it;The straw boat borrows arrows, and the practice borrows the east wind.

There are even three qi Zhou Yu, who Zhou Yu to death. Is it possible?Chen Shou's "Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms" recorded that Zhou Yu "has a strong temperament and a large rate of winning people", saying that Zhou Yu is a big man and a frank person, how could he be angry with Zhuge Liang.

Therefore, we should face history squarely, but also face history squarely, and do not follow the crowd. Zhuge Liang is also a person, not a god. Later generations even rumored that after Zhuge Liang's death, his tomb coffin would move with the mountain, so no one could find his cemetery. Isn't this a manifestation of a myth?

The grave of Cao Mengde can be found. It's just that his funeral is simple, and the reason is that he has a team of generals who specialize in pouting people's graves, so it is difficult to find. Of course, this is also off topic.

Clause. Second, Xu Maogong.

Xu Maogong, Xu Shichang, Xu Maogong, Li Shichang, Li Maogong, and Li Tao are all talking about a person "Li Tao". As we said in a previous article, Xu Shixian, whose name is Mao Gong, was given the surname "Li" by Li Yuan because of his meritorious service, so he was renamed Li Shiyun. Later, Li Shimin succeeded in usurping the throne, and in order to avoid secrecy, Li Shiyun removed the word "world" and called Li Tao.

Xu Maogong is Xu Maogong's interpretation in the story. Literary works such as "The Complete Biography of the Tang Dynasty", "The Biography of the Xingtang Dynasty", "The Heroes of the Sui and Tang Dynasties", and "The Biography of the Heroes of the Sui and Tang Dynasties" describe Xu Shiyun as an image of a military advisor dressed as a Taoist priest, and some people even call him "Zhuge Reincarnation". It's a brain-opener. This is very different from his image as a military general with great achievements.

In the stories and literary works, Xu Mao has no last resort, and the author forcibly added Han Xin's image of "strategizing and winning thousands of miles away" to him, and even he can predict the prophet, just like Zhuge Liang.

He first used his strategy to make the heroes of Wagang prosperous, and the limelight surpassed Li Yuan and Li Shimin for a while.

Let Wagang become the backbone of the anti-Sui movement. In the face of the Sui Dynasty's continuous sending troops to encircle and suppress, Xu Mao saw the move, and every time he was able to save the day.

Later, Li Mizhong betrayed his relatives and left, and Xu Maogong became the protector of the Tang Dynasty in a blink of an eye, and even took Qin Qiong to become a marshal.

Under the joint efforts of the two, the Tang Dynasty quickly swept away Wang Shichong, Dou Jiande, Liu Heimin and other separatist regimes. So that the Tang Dynasty can unify the world.

Even the Xuanwumen Incident happened later, which was also the idea given by Xu Maogong, and Qin Qiong also played the role of the hero who captured Li Jiancheng and Li Yuanji.

But in fact, Li Tao has always remained neutral and did not participate in the Xuanwumen Change. And the crown prince Li Jiancheng was shot by Li Shimin himself.

Therefore, Li Tao and Qin Qiong were ranked at the bottom of the 24 meritorious heroes of Lingyan Pavilion.

The greatest contribution of Li Tao's life is to destroy Xue Yantuo during the Taizong period and Goguryeo during the Gaozong period. Therefore, he was able to be as famous as Li Jing. Because of his great merit, the world gradually gave him to mythology.

Regarding Xu Maogong's true identity, I will not repeat it here, and interested partners can check the relevant information.

Clause. 3. Liu Bowen.

Liu Bowen's folk myths and legends are no less than Zhuge Liang, and even as famous as Zhuge Liang.

Both of them can know 500 years above and 500 years below. It is reasonable to say that 500 years is known, but to say that 500 years will be known after 500 years is pure fiction.

What we often hear is that "Zhuge Liang divided the world into three parts in the previous life, and Liu Bowen unified the country in the later life." ”

In the whole process of Zhu Yuanzhang's rise from the grassroots to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty and the expulsion of the remnants, Liu Bowen always played an important role in it.

was even described as the protagonist, and the limelight overshadowed Zhu Yuanzhang. He always anticipates the enemy's opportunity and defeats the enemy by surprise.

In order to mythologize Liu Bowen, later generations even added many strategies of Zhu Yuanzhang's other aides to Liu Bowen. For example, Zhu Sheng's strategy of "building a high city, accumulating grain, and slowing down the king";And it was Tao An who chose Nanjing as the capital, not Liu Bowen who saw that Nanjing had the spirit of a son of heaven......

With the deepening of the myth, later generations even made up "Song of Baked Cakes" to say that Liu Bowen ** ten major events that happened in later generations. There are even people who are convinced that you don't believe that he still thinks you are abnormal.

But as long as you put everything that happens in the future life up, and then explain it indiscriminately, let alone ten things, it can be explained in a hundred or a thousand things.

The real Liu Bowen defected to Zhu Yuanzhang late, and he was not as good as Xu Da in terms of military talent, but not as good as Li Shanchang in terms of internal affairs and logistics. Therefore, when Zhu Yuanzhang was rewarding in **, Liu Bowen was at the end, and he only got the title of "Sincere Uncle".

To sum up, Zhuge Liang, Xu Maogong, and Liu Bowen needless to say about their contributions to assisting the king, of course, they are outstanding meritorious workers. However, all three of them have signs of being mythologized, and we should look at the three historical figures rationally from a more objective perspective.

It is true that mortals cannot rank in the immortal class and go beyond the divine realm, but compared to most mortals, these people are indeed out of the ordinary. Excessive touting has actually allowed real people to be "killed" to death. We can only say that they can help a king achieve a career, and it is indeed not an exaggeration to have the talent of Wang Zuozhi.
