School Management What is Humanistic Care

The lack of humanistic spirit and humanistic care is an important reason why our education is criticized by society today. But what exactly is humanistic care?

I had the privilege of attending a school management meeting, and a principal with the title of senior teacher talked about an incident when he was the director of education.

At that time, the school was not large, and there were basically no other staff members in the teaching office except him, including the transfer of classes.

On the surface, it seems that the transfer of classes is very simple, look at the school's general schedule, and just switch the appropriate two classes, and there is naturally nothing wrong with this way of dealing with it, and most schools still deal with it this way.

But he has an additional procedure, that is, he must first communicate with the teacher who may transfer the class, whether the consultation will cause inconvenience to the teacher, whether it will bring any difficulties to the teacher, and must be satisfied with the teacher's or at least agree, he will finally write down the transfer order and send it to the relevant teacher.

This is actually a principle that he himself has established for himself. I asked him: it can be a hassle, it will add a lot of workload, and what if all the teachers find it inconvenient and do not agree to the transfer

His answer was: It will add some trouble, which seems to reduce the efficiency of class adjustment, but it has won the understanding and cooperation of the teachers. As a result, there has never been a situation where the teacher completely disagrees with the transfer.

His move earned him the highest approval rating from his teachers. When the school needed to promote the principal, he naturally became the first choice.

The most effective management is a service. When a manager can truly consider the problem from the perspective of the managed, it is naturally easy for him to understand and cooperate with the way he adopts and the opinions he has to deal with the problem.

Management is essentially a kind of interpersonal interaction, which is the root of modern management from a mechanical management system to humanistic care. And what this principal brings to us is a vivid experience of humanistic feelings.
