On December 14, the Medog Border Police Station of the Nyingchi Border Management Detachment received a report from the public that an injured wild animal had been found on the side of a road in Bari Village, which had lost its mobility. After receiving the police, the police immediately rushed to the scene and found the injured red muntjac (jǐ) in the highway drainage ditch.
After preliminary examination, the right front leg of the red muntjac was swollen due to fracture injury, and the right hind leg and head were bitten by nearby stray dogs due to loss of mobility, and the wound was large. The police rescued the red muntjac from the drainage ditch, cleaned the wound, and then handed it over to the county forestry bureau for treatment.
It has been confirmed that the red muntjac is a national second-class wild protected animal and a national third-class protected animal (i.e., a beneficial wild animal;Wildlife of great economic value;Wildlife with scientific research value), and it is also a common wild animal in Motuo. With the continuous and in-depth promotion of ecological protection in Metuo County, the local population of red muntjac continues to expand, and the local people's reports on the traces of red muntjac activities in their daily production and life are increasing.
In recent years, in accordance with the requirements of the forest sheriff system, the Medog Border Police Station has incorporated ecological protection work into the scope of grid management, continuously compacted the work responsibilities of the grid police, went to villages and households to preach legal knowledge related to ecological protection, explained the classification of cherished wild animals and plants, the scope of use of understory resources, and the process of disposing of wild animals, mobilized local people to actively participate in ecological protection work, and always maintained a high-pressure situation of severely cracking down on illegal poaching and illegal logging.
