In 1939, Yu Xuezhong, a general of the Northeast Army, was appointed commander of the Lusu Guerrilla Theater, responsible for directing guerrilla warfare in a vast area north of the Yangtze River, east of the Tianjin-Pudong Railway, and south of the Old Yellow River. Although nominally promoted, the reality was that his control was limited to the Lunan area. From the beginning of the full-scale war of resistance, these places had been occupied by the Japanese invaders, and all he could control was some mountainous counties and rural areas.
Despite such a difficult environment, he quickly expanded three divisions and three guerrilla columns, bringing the total strength to more than 150,000 men. Yu Xuezhong's expansion was carried out at a time when the Japanese invaders had no time to take care of the battlefield behind enemy lines. He gathered the local armed forces in southern Lunan and took over most of the equipment and supplies of the Northeast Army, and owned the most elite 51st Army and 57th Army.
Despite the limited scope of his control, his army was well-armed and morale-high. In the face of the Japanese invasion, Yu Xuezhong made certain achievements in the Lusu guerrilla theater. Despite the limited scope of his actual control, his actions injected a glimmer of hope into the war of resistance against Japan. This also makes us have to think about how we should look for opportunities to give full play to our advantages and strive for the final victory in the face of the strength of the enemy in the war
Yu Xuezhong's experience tells us that even in the face of difficulties and obstacles, we must maintain an optimistic and enterprising attitude. Just as Yu Xuezhong quickly expanded his army when the Japanese invaders had no time to take care of the battlefield behind enemy lines, we should also be good at seizing opportunities, giving full play to our strengths, and striving for victory in the war.
Military history is full of such stories, full of wisdom and courage, and it is these spirits that enable us to keep moving forward in the face of war. I hope that everyone can draw strength from these historical stories, continue to work hard, keep forging ahead, and strive to realize their dreams. In the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, many anti-Japanese generals and troops paid great sacrifices in order to resist the Japanese invaders.
Among them, General Yu Xuezhong led the troops to cooperate with the Shandong Column of the Eighth Route Army, and frequently attacked the Japanese strongholds in Tai'an, Lincheng, Xuzhou and other places in Shandong, and achieved a series of results. However, with the development of the Anti-Japanese War, some reactionary officers appeared under his subordinates, and Chiang Kai-shek's ** climax also caused a lot of interference in the joint operations against Japan.
The Japanese invaders sent troops to sweep and some troops surrendered to the enemy, so that Yu Xuezhong's strength was constantly damaged, and he was finally forced to abandon Lunan and the whole army moved to northern Anhui. The entire Lusu theater also existed in name only. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the internal turmoil and external pressure of the anti-Japanese forces had a serious impact on the struggle against Japan, and this is also where we need to reflect deeply.
