French President Notre Dame Cathedral will open as scheduled on December 8 next year

France** had previously planned to reopen Notre Dame Cathedral in December 2024, and now it is on the one-year anniversary of the countdown. Macron inspected the restoration work that day and used scaffolding to climb to the highest point of the building, the iconic Gothic spire, which was recently re-erected.

According to France**, the reopening does not mean that the restoration work is completed, which is expected to be completed between 2029 and 2030.

Macron also announced on the same day that the six stained glass windows on the south side of the church will be replaced with contemporary creations with 21st century themes, and the works will be open to the public. In addition, a museum will be built near the church to showcase the history of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

Notre-Dame Cathedral was built in the 12th century and is one of the most iconic monuments in France.
