Sun Liren was an outstanding general of the Kuomintang and was known as the "Jungle Fox" for his outstanding performance on the battlefield. However, after Chiang Kai-shek's defeat, he was imprisoned for 33 years and was not released until after Chiang Kai-shek's death.

Sun Liren made three requests, which received a positive response, but the subsequent demands put Chiang Ching-kuo in a dilemma. So, what kind of demands put Chiang Ching-kuo in a difficult situation? How did he end up in detention?

Sun Liren, born in December 1900, is a native of Anhui. Its name means "founding the country".

Since childhood, he has shown excellent learning ability, ranked first in the entrance examination of Tsinghua University, and performed well on the basketball court, serving as the captain of the school's basketball team.

In 1921, he led the Chinese basketball team to win the championship of the Fifth Far Eastern Games held in Shanghai. However, he is not satisfied with his achievements in basketball, but is eager to acquire more knowledge and take on new challenges.

So, he decided to study in the United States, where he studied at Purdue University and then the Virginia Military Academy, where he underwent rigorous military training and developed tenacity and leadership skills.

Upon his return, he was appointed captain of the Secret Service School, responsible for training and training special agents. Later, thanks to the relationship between Song Ziwen and Chiang Kai-shek, he was transferred to the Tax Police Corps.

Song Ziwen is the best, so most of the officers in his team are American students, and the equipment is also the most sophisticated, which makes the team very strong. In this case, Sun Liren finally found an opportunity to show his talent.

In 1937, when the Japanese invaders launched a full-scale attack on China, Sun Liren was ordered to go to the front line of the Battle of Songhu to defend against the Japanese army, and after several hours of fierce fighting, the enemy army was finally defeated.

However, when the Japanese army raided Suzhou, Sun Liren resisted bravely, but encountered an accident and was knocked down by a cannonball and fell into a coma.

After learning that Sun Liren was seriously injured and fell into a coma, Song Ziwen immediately sent his younger brother Song Zi'an to send him to Hong Kong to receive **, thus saving his life. **Later, Sun Liren returned to the Ruijing Regiment and participated in the defense of Wuhan and began to emerge.

In October 1943, Sun Liren commanded the New First Army against the Japanese army in Burma, and with his superior command ability, he routed the 18th Division, known as the "King of Jungle Warfare", and forced them to hastily withdraw from the Hukang River Valley.

Subsequently, Sun Liren was promoted to the commander of the New First Army, and led his troops to counterattack the Japanese army, advancing 240 li in just two weeks, occupying the area north of the Taiping River.

Sun Liren's troops successfully drove out the Japanese troops on the Sino-Burmese and Indian border, for which he was awarded the Order of the Blue Sky and White Sun.

During the entire War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Sun Liren led his troops to wipe out more than 30,000 Japanese troops, and was known as the "Jungle Fox" for his outstanding performance in jungle operations.

However, despite the outstanding performance of this brave and warlike general, his talent was buried when he was sent to Taiwan to train new soldiers due to internal feuds within the Kuomintang.

Chiang Kai-shek fled to Taiwan after the defeat, but the United States was dissatisfied with his performance, suspected that his army would actually lose to the Chinese Communist army, and bluntly accused Chiang Kai-shek of incompetence.

Chiang Kai-shek was angry but helpless at the evaluation of the United States, and he could not confront the United States, so he could only hide his anger in the bottom of his heart.

However, what angered Chiang Kai-shek even more was that the United States, after deciding that Chiang Kai-shek was incompetent, began to cultivate another force, and how could Chiang Kai-shek tolerate others meddling in his head?

The first choice of the United States was General Sun Liren, who had studied in the United States, and although they had liked to discuss with Sun Liren before, the current situation was obviously beyond his expectations.

On the one hand, Chiang Kai-shek sent people to secretly spy on Sun Liren, and on the other hand, he investigated the movements of the United States. The following year, Chiang Kai-shek received a secret report that the United States was plotting a military coup with Sun Liren.

Chiang Kai-shek was very angry and said: "Just rely on Sun Liren?."

Even with the help of the United States, he could not defeat me!At the same time, Sun Liren was extremely dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's ** rule, but he did not intend to seize power, but was concerned about how to save the Kuomintang army from its plight.

With the outbreak of the Korean War, Chiang Kai-shek began to take a series of measures to purge the self-righteous ***, including Wu Guozhen and Sun Liren.

Sun Liren was falsely accused of conspiring against the state with the Americans, and he was placed under house arrest for 33 years from June 1956.

In order to ensure his safety, Sun Liren was monitored day and night by six so-called "security guards", and no outsiders were allowed to approach him, and he and his family were not allowed to go out at will. Chiang Kai-shek originally planned to directly execute Sun Liren and end everything.

However, due to the strong opposition of his wife Soong Meiling and the United States, he finally chose to imprison Sun Liren. It was not until 1987, 15 years after Chiang Kai-shek's death, that Chiang Ching-kuo released Sun Liren.

When Sun Liren saw the current situation of the former general, a sour feeling surged in his heart. Sun Liren made three requests to Chiang Ching-kuo, and Chiang Ching-kuo agreed without hesitation.

Sun Liren finally made his first request: to find the descendants of his old comrades-in-arms and take good care of them in the future.

Those brave and fearless warriors who paid their heads and shed blood in the war of that year have passed away, but they still have descendants, and we must take care of and help them to a certain extent.

His second request was to hope that Chiang Ching-kuo could arrange for him to be buried with his old comrades-in-arms, and he hoped that after his death, he could be buried with them, which could be regarded as a kind of companionship! Finally, he hoped that the reunification of the motherland would be achieved.

It is hoped that Taiwan will return to the embrace of the mainland. When Chiang Ching-kuo heard Sun Liren's wish, he expressed some embarrassment. The situation is very complicated today, and he cannot guarantee that he will be able to fulfill the general's wishes.

In 1990, Taiwan's General Sun Liren died, leaving such last words on his deathbed: "If you don't return to your hometown, the coffin won't be buried in the ground!"Therefore, his last wish has not been fulfilled to this day, and his body is still placed in the Dongshan Cemetery in Taichung, which has not yet been laid down.

Bury. Not being able to return to his hometown became General Sun's only regret during his lifetime.
