Kuomintang General Hu Lian is a controversial figure in history, who is nicknamed "Fox General" because of his scheming and cunning personality.

He was the commander of the 11th Division of Chiang Kai-shek's ace army, and the evaluation of this person within the Kuomintang was only 12 words:

Love is like life, spending money is like earth, and killing is like hemp.

Hu Lianrong has been a horse for half his life, participated in the Northern Expedition, and also participated in the warlord melee.

He once fought bloody battles with the Japanese invaders and made a lot of contributions to the Anti-Japanese War, but he was also a staunch ** element, and he once fought with General Su Yu on the Huaihai battlefield.

And his complicated life, the most widely spread, is the legendary experience of escaping death many times.

Hu Lian, whose name is Boyu, was born in 1907 in Huaxian County, Shaanxi.

After graduating from middle school, he came to Guangzhou with fellow villagers Liu Zhidan, Zhang Lingfu and others, applied for the Huangpu Military Academy, and was a graduate of the fourth phase of Huangpu.

In addition to Hu Lian and Zhang Lingfu, who were later Kuomintang generals, there were also famous figures such as ***'s cousin, Li Dazhao's nephew Li Yunchang, and **'s brother Zhou Enshou.

After the failure of the Great Revolution, Liu Zhidan returned to Shaanxi to lead the peasant uprising, participated in the creation of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi, and was praised as the "leader of the masses".

In the spring of 1936, Liu Zhidan led his troops to participate in the Eastern Expedition and died in the battle of Sanjiao Town (now Liulin, Shanxi) in Zhongyang on April 14 at the age of 33.

However, his classmate Hu Lian defected to Chiang Kai-shek, and the two parted ways since then.

In May 1943, the Japanese army captured Yichang and crossed the Qinghe River to approach the ancient town of Shipai.

Shipai is located in Yichang County, on the right bank of Xiling Gorge, the most fantastic and magnificent in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. Since the Japanese army invaded Yichang, Shipai has become the first gateway to Chongqing.

Once the stone plaque is lost, Chongqing will open the door and be completely exposed to the firepower of the Japanese invaders, and Chongqing, the capital of Chongqing, will usher in the same fate as Nanjing.

Hu Lian's 11th Division was elite, and it was natural that he was stationed in Shipai.

On May 26, Chiang Kai-shek sent a warrant from Chongqing, strictly ordering Hu Lian to stick to the stone plaque, and called the stone plaque "China's Stalingrad".

Hu Lian knows very well that this battle is not only related to his own future, but also to the life and death of the nation and the country.

He carefully analyzed the battle situation and found that the Japanese artillery and tanks were excellent, but they were not good at mountain combat, so they could take advantage of the undulating mountains and steep terrain near Chongqing to suppress the power of the enemy's tank artillery.

One side is determined to win, and the other side is desperately defending, and the battle to defend the stone card is destined to be a vicious battle.

On May 29, Hu Lian announced the pre-war mobilization to the regiment commanders. He said:"From tomorrow we will engage the enemy in close ......Fight to the last ......Scribble our names on the rocks of the stone plaques ......”

This vicious battle was fought extremely fiercely, and the two sides fought to the end, and even adopted the most primitive and bloody cold weapons to fightFight bayonets.

Due to the stubborn resistance, the Japanese army could not attack the stone card for a long time, and their morale was low.

The defense of Shipai Fortress finally ended in victory, and Chiang Kai-shek's military goal of "defending Shipai to the death" was realized.

After this battle, Hu Lian was awarded the Order of the Blue Sky and White Sun and was promoted to the commander of the 18th Army.

From then on, he became Chiang Kai-shek's confidant.

As a cadre in Chiang Kai-shek's counter-revolutionary base camp, Hu Lian was stubborn all his life and was a fierce enemy encountered by our army during the War of Liberation.

After the end of the Anti-Japanese War, Chiang Kai-shek broke the armistice agreement and openly instigated a civil war, and Hu Lian also became one of Chiang Kai-shek's most effective pawns, fighting the PLA many times on the battlefield.

During the Battle of Menglianggu, Zhang Lingfu was defeated and died.

Chiang Kai-shek regrouped and tried in vain to launch a new offensive against the liberated areas of Shandong.

Hu Lian was eager to try and wanted to take the lead.

On June 29, 1947, Hu Lian suddenly sent troops to capture the Nanma base in the Yimeng Mountains, and quickly built a dense fort on the large and small hills and villages around Nanma.

* Immediately mobilize the forces of five columns and go straight to Nanma, wanting to "catch the fox in the urn".

Hu Lian was very anxious after finding out that he was surrounded by it.

The Huaye troops fought very resolutely, but they also defended very tenaciously.

Seeing that under the siege of the People's Liberation Army, the encirclement was gradually shrinking, and Hu Lian was almost desperate.

But he didn't deserve to die.

At the critical moment when Huaye launched the final general attack, it rained a rare heavily, and it was seven days and seven nights at once.

PLA ammunition was damp, and the troops were forced to slow down the offensive.

At the same time, ** reinforcements were approaching, and Huaye was forced to withdraw after paying heavy sacrifices.

Hu Lian picked up a life from the hands of a famous CCP general and was blown to the core.

In fact, only he knows best in his heart that if it weren't for the help of heaven in this battle of Nanma, he would probably have followed in the footsteps of Zhang Lingfu long ago.

But he was still angry on the surface, and even said wildly: ".My 11th division is not Zhang Lingfu's 74th division! If you want to eat me, you have to have a good appetite for iron mouths and steel teeth. ”

After the war, Chiang Kai-shek awarded the 11th Division a bonus of 500 million yuan, touting Hu Lian as a "victorious general".

In early November 1948, the Huaihai Campaign began, and Huang Wei's 12th Corps set out for the Xubang area.

Unexpectedly, a few months later, the 12th Corps was completely wiped out on the Huaihai battlefield.

As the deputy commander of the 12th Corps, Hu Lian should have been doomed.

But once again, Heaven favored him.

On the night of December 15, Hu Lian and Commander Huang Wei took two tanks and led the remnants to break through the encirclement of the People's Liberation Army and flee for their lives.

Huang Wei's tank broke down halfway through, so he had to flee in the chaos.

Huang Wei. In the sound of "surrender the gun and don't kill", Huang Wei trembled and raised his hands and grabbed him.

However, Hu Lian's tank did not have any problems at all, and drove smoothly onto the road and fled south.

Later, the tank drove to the north bank of the vortex river, where it broke down due to running out of fuel.

Hu Lian was discovered by a PLA patrol, and for a while, gunfire rang out.

He lamented in his heart that this time he must be dead. Unexpectedly, there was a ferry boat on the river ahead, and he got on the boat with the support of the guards and forced the captain to cross the river.

In this way, he once again picked up a life.

In several "fox hunting" operations carefully organized by the People's Liberation Army, Hu Lian escaped danger with his keen sense of smell and got away with it.

Because of this, whether it is ** or the People's Liberation Army, when this person is mentioned, they have to sigh from the bottom of their hearts:"This guy's luck is just too good. ”

Hu Lian's third narrow escape was in the "8.23" artillery battle in 1958.

On August 21 of that year, Chiang Kai-shek and Chiang Ching-kuo visited Kinmen in person, and Chiang Kai-shek deeply felt that the war situation was imminent, so he ordered Defense Minister Yu Dawei to temporarily stay in Kinmen to preside over the defense area battle plan.

August 23 was a Saturday, at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, under the sunset, the sea of Kinmen was calm and sparkling.

Hu Lian, commander of the Kinmen Defense Department, and three deputy commanders, Zhao Jiaxiang, Ji Xingwen, and Zhang Jie, held a weekend dinner to welcome Yu Dawei's arrival.

At the table, Hu Lian and the three deputy commanders frequently raised their glasses.

Hu Lian was so drunk that he didn't feel a little top-heavy.

At 6:30 p.m. that afternoon, the artillery officers and men of the People's Liberation Army on the Kinmen front received an order to shell Kinmen Island.

495 heavy artillery pieces flew towards the Kinmen Defense Department on the side of Taiwu Mountain and its vicinity.

Suddenly, ** tragically, the intensity of the PLA's artillery fire made the US Navy in the waters of Kinmen stunned.

With years of battlefield experience, Hu Lian immediately sobered up and crawled back to the basement of the headquarters.

And the three deputy commanders were not so lucky, and they were ordered to go to Huangquan in the flames and **!

Hu Lian's life was bloody and bloody, blessed with great fortune, and repeatedly turned danger into disaster.

In his later years, he used the words "alert and calm" to summarize his several adventures.

Perhaps because the experience in his early years was too thrilling, the elderly Hu Lian returned to calm and devoted himself to reading ancient books and studying history.

On June 22, 1977, Hu Lian died suddenly.

This Whampoa warrior was shot and bulleted, and escaped death again and again, but in the end he did not escape the disease.
