A few days ago, the "ammonia-hydrogen" fuel cell-powered environmental protection ship built by Fuda Zijin Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Fuda Zijin") completed its maiden voyage in the Minjiang River, realizing a breakthrough in the application of the company's "ammonia-hydrogen" fuel cell technology in the marine field.
According to reports, in the face of the global development trend of "ammonia-hydrogen" energy, the National Engineering Research Center for Fertilizer Catalysts, founded by Academician Wei Kemei and led by researcher Jiang Lilong, relying on the construction of Fuzhou University, took the lead in developing the "ammonia-hydrogen" energy storage and power generation technology route with ammonia as the hydrogen storage medium in the world. Based on the world's leading disruptive key technology of "ammonia-hydrogen" energy conversion, in December 2021, Fuzhou University, Zijin Group, and Beijing Haixin Energy Technology Co., Ltd. created the first "ammonia-hydrogen energy major industrial innovation platform" in China, and jointly funded the establishment of "Fuda Zijin" to carry out in-depth cooperation around the major technology of "ammonia-hydrogen" green energy, and strive to build a trillion-level industrial chain.
The "ammonia-hydrogen" fuel cell power system on board this time uses liquid ammonia as fuel and provides power for ships by coupling low-temperature ammonia ** hydrogen power generation, which is suitable for small and medium-sized ships such as law enforcement ships and fishing boats, and realizes the production and safe and efficient power generation of hydrogen energy on ships, which is an important milestone for "ammonia-hydrogen" fuel cell ships to be applied to rivers, lakes and offshore fields. Compared to conventional fuel cells, "ammonia-to-hydrogen" fuel cells offer significantly higher efficiency levels.
Under the background of "dual carbon", the development of marine clean energy is an important way for the green and low-carbon development of the shipping industry. It is reported that Fuda Zijin will continue to carry out the research and development and optimization of the "ammonia-hydrogen" ship power system, drive the research and development of new technologies for offshore ships, and help fossil fuel ships transform into zero-carbon fuel ships. Industry insiders believe that in the future, "ammonia-hydrogen" energy will become the mainstream zero-carbon emission ship power alternative fuel, or will become the next new outlet for industrial investment layout.
