The five major tunes of Lunan are also known as the five major tunes of Tanma and Tanma, which are spread in Shandong, including "Manjianghong", "Lingling Tune", "Big Parasitic Grass", "Huai Tune" and "Major Tune", which have five kinds of songs, whose melody is euphemistic and soft, the rhythm is slow and plain, and the words are elegant and generous.
Shandong was known as Qilu in ancient times, and is one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese culture and the birthplace of Confucianism, known as the "hometown of Confucius and Mencius" and "the hometown of etiquette".
The five major tunes of Lunan have a long history, originating from the Ming and Qing dynasties that evolved from the Yuanqu Xiaoling and the scattered set. A total of 130 pieces of music in five major tunes have survived to this day. At present, there are very few old artists in this art form, and they are facing the situation of having no successors, and they are in urgent need of rescue and protection.
Lunan Five Tunes has won many awards and honors, including the Shandong Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Project. These accolades further promote its inheritance and development. The five major tunes carry a wealth of Yuan opera and literature, and also reflect a large amount of information about the ancient economic development and commercial activities in the eastern half of Shandong. They provide important cultural nourishment for the cultural inheritance and development of Shandong Province, and also provide valuable materials for the study of the history and culture, traditional opera and development process of Shandong.
