Peter Kalnbach is a visual storyteller based in Hamburg, Germany. Peter has always loved to wander around the city for hours, exploring the urban environment and researching the personal habits that characterize a city. Photography became the perfect creative tool for him to capture these moments and tell the story of the city.
In 2017, Peter began to take photography seriously during a trip to New York City. He's always wanted to capture the spirit of this unique city, telling the little everyday stories that make New York so special to him in his own way. All of this culminated in a private project called "The New York Mentality."
Peter's style was inspired by neo-noir and gangster films released in New York City. He loves the gloomy vibe in these films. As a result, he mainly shoots on foggy days, rain or snow.
After starting to post his ** on Instagram and building a certain following, Peter started to engage with the community more. Took over street., the leading platform for street photographyGrammers, as well as co-founding theCommuterstock, these are milestones that mean a lot to him.
His work has been exhibited at institutions and events such as Sony Alpha Universe, Whitewall, Hahnemühle, Adobe Lightroom, NDR, YouTube, Hamburg Loiac Film Festival, Streulicht Gallery Berlin, Hamburg Evening News, Hamburg Photopia, German Street Photography Festival, Hamburg "Moments Around the World" exhibition, and more.
