The "Expression of China" art exhibition was recently unveiled at the Lido International Art Center. The exhibition presents the works of six artists, including Xu Jiang, Tan Ping, Su Xinping, Ma Lu, Zhang Fangbai and Yin Chaoyang, showing the unique connotation and style of Chinese contemporary art.
Layers of sunflowers form a spectacular scene that shades the sky and the sun. This exhibition features artist Xu Jiang's "Oriental Kwend" series. Over the past 20 years, Xu Jiang has created many paintings with the theme of "Kwai Garden", and in his opinion, painting Kwai is painting people, and Kwai is a portrayal of the life of a generation. "Grass and trees are people's hearts, we see the taste of life in Kui, and see the vast wilderness of the sky. ”
Artist Ma Lu's works such as "Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth" and "Gradually Becoming a Heart Painting" also appeared in the exhibition. These paintings either depict the movement of pigments, flowing and condensing, or they show the lines and gestures of vertical and horizontal lines and halberds on all sides. **Hong Mei, director of the Theory and Publication Department of the Art Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts, once commented on the oil painting of Ma Lu - "At the end of postmodern art, I struggled to leap into the universe of Chinese classical culture." ”
Peng Feng, dean and curator of the School of Arts of Peking University, said that "Chinese Expression" belongs to the category of contemporary art, which aims to "express China" and express the historical context, connotation of the times and new posture of Chinese art. "Expression" and "freehand" are both similar and different, which can be regarded as the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese art tradition in contemporary times. Zhong Sophie, executive director of Lido International Art Center, said that she hopes to bring about a cultural collision and promote the exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Western art through this exhibition. The exhibition will run until March 1, 2024.
