On June 30, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation revised and promulgated the Measures for the Supervision and Administration of the Quality and Safety of Edible Agricultural Products Market, which stipulates that from December 1, 2023, the sale of fresh edible agricultural products shall not use lighting and other facilities that cause obvious changes to the sensory characteristics of edible agricultural products such as the true color and luster of edible agricultural products, so as to mislead consumers about the sensory perception of the goods.
The reporter visited a number of vegetable markets and supermarkets in Harbin City and noticed that fresh meat stalls and counters generally use this kind of lighting facilities, which is commonly known as "fresh lights". Meat will appear more tender and full of color under the pink light of the "fresh light", while the color of fresh meat under natural light or ordinary light will be much darker.

Up to now, 158 fresh lamps have been replaced in the district, and 941 lamps have been replaced in the agricultural wholesale market and farmers' market.
At the same time, the Nangang District Market Supervision and Administration Bureau also informed the majority of operators that from December 1, 2023, if they sell fresh edible agricultural products, if they use lighting and other facilities that cause obvious changes to the true color and other sensory characteristics of edible agricultural products to mislead consumers about the sensory perception of the goods, they will be ordered to make corrections, given a warning, and if they refuse to make corrections, they will also be fined between 5,000 yuan and 30,000 yuan.
