The Warriors narrowly defeated the Trail Blazers 118-114 to continue to plunge their opponent into a seven-game losing streak. Stephen Curry, assisted by Klay Thompson, turned the tide. First-year rookie Tress Jackson Davis also showed what he deserves.
At the beginning of the game, Klay Thompson was hot from the outside, hitting consecutive three-pointers, and the Warriors' offense was excellent, but turnovers were still frequent, while the Trail Blazers relied on counterattacks and interior offense to close the gap.
In the second quarter, the two teams battled each other for scoring, but in the second half, the Trail Blazers fell into an overindulgence in singles and their efficiency dropped dramatically, while the Warriors combined with passing and running to take a 16-point lead at halftime. At the start of the second half, Simmons and Klay engaged in a fierce scoring duel, and the Trail Blazers launched a wave of 21-5 counterattacks to tie the deficit in one fell swoop.
In the closing stages of the game, Klay and Wiggins teamed up to help the Warriors extend their lead to double digits at one point, while the Trail Blazers stubbornly chased the points. Portland's Podzemski drew a key foul from Sharpe, but in the end, the Warriors managed to bring home the win from Portland.
It is worth mentioning that Curry was not in good shape in this game, hitting only 2 of 12 shots in the game, 0 of 8 three-pointers, only 7 points, 2 rebounds and 8 assists, and 4 turnovers. Previously, Curry had hit 268 consecutive three-pointers, an NBA record he set himself, and that record officially ended today.
Thompson, meanwhile, saw a resurgence as he played 16 minutes, scoring 28 points on 11-of-11 shooting and adding four rebounds. Wiggins had 25 points and seven rebounds, while Tress Jackson Davis showed efficiency in a tough game, contributing 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block.
As for the Trail Blazers, Grant had 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Kamara had 11 points, three rebounds and two steals, Sharpe contributed 12 points and five rebounds, Simmons had 24 points, three rebounds and seven assists, and Henderson had 14 points and two assists.
