The Oxford Dictionary recently selected the 2023 Word of the Year –rizz
This is a very novel word, not a regular word, and even foreign netizens have complained:
a word that i'm too old to understand.(I'm too old to recognize the term).
So what exactly does rizz mean?I consulted the official dictionary and I found out:
Rizz is a colloquial noun for young ** people abroad, which means "".Attract the opposite sex The charm of the same sex", similar to what we said".Sexual tension", fromcharismaword.
charisma means "charisma", we say that a person is charisma, we can say someone has greatest charisma
Rizz is a truncated word for charisma, and there are three types of truncated words:
1.Pinch your head: e.g. phone is a truncated word for telephone.
2.Tail removed: For example, exam is a truncated word for examination.
3.Pinch the head and remove the tail: For example, flu is a truncated word for influenza.
Rizz is a special word, it is a truncated word for charisma, but with some changes, and finally formedrizzSuch a cool word.
So how do you use rizz?
First of all: rizz is slang that you can use on your usual spoken or social **, which is pretty cool. However, it is not recommended to use it in formal written language or even in the composition of an exam, or it's better to be honest and practical charisma.
Colloquially it can be said like this:
1.you really h**e rizz.(You are charismatic).
2.everybody has their own special rizz.(Each one has its own unique charm).
Rizz is an uncountable noun and cannot be preceded by an article.
In addition, rizz can also be used as a verb to mean "to attract, to charm", for example:
1.you’ve reall rizzed me!(You managed to attract me.) )
2.that guy doesn't rizz me at all.(That person didn't appeal to me at all.) )
Have you learned to be wasted?
Notice that three other authoritative dictionaries have also rated their own 2023 words of the year:
The Collins dictionary isai(n.Artificial Intelligence), Cambridge Dictionary ishallucinate(vi.hallucinations), Merriam-Webster isauthentic(adj.True).
All three of these words are related to "artificial intelligence".
Collins commented that AI is lamenting that with the birth of ChatGPT in 2023, mankind has officially entered the era of AI
The Cambridge Dictionary's Hallucinate hits the nail on the head with one of the biggest drawbacks of AI: sometimes it's "serious nonsense," or hallucinate.
Merriam-Webster's Authentic is designed to emphasize the growing importance of authenticity in an era where fakes are prevalent, especially when AI-generated deepfakes are flooding the web.
It can be said that these three words of the year all focus on "artificial intelligence".Only the Oxford Dictionary's "rizz" returns to human natureI can't help but feel that no matter how artificial intelligence affects us, the charm of human beings is irreplaceable. so, keep your rizz alive!
