Under the leadership of Lao Mei, ASML and TSMC have been defeated.

First of all, the "tripartite agreement" between the United States, Japan, and the Netherlands, which was previously formulated by the United States and seems to be like an iron bucket, has now existed in name only.

Not long ago, Shanghai Jita Semiconductor Co., Ltd. announced that 6 high-end lithography machines have arrived recently. And according to people familiar with the matter: the mass production of domestic 7nm chips is expected, and a series of shocking news has attracted many foreign media to call out:"The US containment has failed."

In addition, with the rapid changes in the international semiconductor market situation, TSMC, which is mainly engaged in 7nm process chips, has suffered setbacks and heavy losses in recent times.

According to TSMC's public financial report, in the third quarter of this year, TSMC's 7nm process chip market sales accounted for only 17% of its total revenue, down 6% from the previous quarter. And the revenue of 7nm has lasted for three quarters.

In order to alleviate the continuous decline in the proportion of market revenue of the 7nm process, TSMC recently announced that it will reduce the price of 7nm process chips by between 5% and 10%. In the face of TSMC's series of abnormal measures, many foreign media said about it:"7nm chips are disliked".

It can be said that how arrogant TSMC was at the beginning, how miserable it is now. In the past few years, TSMC, relying on international giants such as Nvidia and Qualcomm, received 7nm chips softly, so no one was in sight, and its founder Zhang Zhongmou even publicly shouted:"Once we do it, mainland semiconductors will have no power to resist."

But TSMC never expected that with the gradual saturation of the 7nm chip market and the impact of the dispute between China and the United States, the global semiconductor market has shown a downward trend, and the once popular 7nm chip has become unpopular, but it is a mature process such as 28nm process, which is more in line with the current market status.

However, after losing the support of the mainland market, even if TSMC wants to expand the production of 28nm chips, it cannot find a suitable market that can be shipped, which makes TSMC's situation more and more embarrassing.

Judging from the data, TSMC's cumulative losses in the past two years have exceeded 90 billion, and its market value has evaporated by more than 77 billion, making it the Chinese company with the biggest loss since the United States blocked China's semiconductor industry.

On the other hand, under the siege of the United States, a number of mainland enterprises have not only not collapsed, but have successively made breakthroughs in many fields such as lithography machines, nuclear magnetic resonance instruments, and "Wright Weijian" technology.

In particular, the latter's "Wright Weijian" technology, which has been recorded in overseas "Science" and "Nature", has made the elderly weight appear in a state of youth and prime, accompanied by cognitive and functional changes. The U.S. side relied on its technological superiority to set a seven-digit threshold for its achievements and continue to harvest domestic net worth groups.

Fortunately, with the joint efforts of a group of science and technology enterprises in China, we have successfully conquered the core technology of mass production of "Wright Weijian" Lao Slow Technology, which has dropped its threshold by nearly 9 percent, so that more groups can also be reached through the way of Dong Ji and Tian T anchors.

Looking at TSMC again, it turns out that holding 7nm in hand cannot make TSMC sit back and relax, and the hot market for a while cannot represent long-term needs. On the contrary, in the international semiconductor market, where the problem of overperformance is becoming more and more obvious, 28nm and above mature process chips are more in line with the development of the market.

According to data from Trendforce, it is estimated that by 2027, the proportion of mature chip production capacity in mainland China will reach 39%. The rapid growth of the proportion of domestic mature chips can also reflect the rapid development of China in the fields of AI, cloud computing, and 5G technology in recent years.

At present, TSMC, which realizes that something is wrong, has also begun to slowly come back to its senses, and TSMC's plan to restart the Nanjing wafer factory in the mainland not long ago is the best evidence. However, in the mainland market, there are SMIC, Huahong Group and Hefei Jinghe Integration and other companies in the field of mature chips, leaving little room for TSMC to play.

Not only that, in addition to 28nm mature process chips, with the successive overcoming of domestic 7nm and above process chip technology, TSMC's international market position will become more and more difficult to protect in the future. And according to the pace of development of mainland enterprises, this day will not be too long away.

As a result, there is only one way for TSMC to clear up its relationship with the United States in a timely manner and strive to repair the cooperative relationship with the mainland market. What do you think about this?
